Lee, you just have to make your brass by fire forming rather than necking it up over a mandrel. Requires a dedicated FF barrel, but you chamber your own, so that shouldn't be a problem. The most consistent that I've found it to just let a cheapie 6mm bullet rattle down the barrel. Greg J.

    Off the rack 700 VLS

You'd also benefit from bedding the action in the stock. You can do it yourself. If it isn't on pillars now, I'd suggest adding them. The barrel is almost always most important, though. Aside from the rifle, good optics, wind flags, front rest and rear bag are all very important. As things...

    Off the rack 700 VLS

EKP, I don't think that you're going to be able to tune that factory rifle much more. If it was me, I'd save my money, put a custom barrel on it, bed it and put in a Jewell trigger. Or, better yet, build or buy a rifle on a M700 clone action.

Looking to turn case necks with a power tool

A power screw driver with a K&M or other case holder chucked up will do fine. A variable speed drill is OK, but is hard to keep it slow enough.

    Robertson stocks

A nice young fellow that I bought barrels from bought the molds. He was trying to get into business. He had good ideas and a good record with customer service with barrels. I think they perhaps he ran into unforeseen problems. It's a gap out there right now. If someone had the money, the...

    Hypothetical Configurations

Thank you, Dusty. I appreciate it. How long is the barrel? Profile? What kind of stock? 8 twist for the 104-108 class bullets?

    Hypothetical Configurations

What would you build for a 300 yard rifle, 25 lb weight limit, no barrel or stock profile rules. The format allows no wind flags, no sighters and the range has tricky winds. There is often considerable haze such that bullet holes are hard to see. The target has generous size scoring rings...

Just bought a used 30BR rifle

I've been told they the new blue box brass doesn't clean up 100% till cut for a 330. I do not know first hand having a life-time supply of gold box. If nothing else, prep,as for,a 330 and deal with it. I did that, by accident, in the first batch of brass for my 332 neck 30 Major and did very...

Potential New World Record Shot by Gary Ocock - ** NEW** Sta-Moly Precision Jackets

What is the significance of the name "StaMoly". The first visceral reaction is that it has something to do with molybdenum disulfide. Please say it ain't so!

Houston we may have a problem!!

Come on, folks! Clean the dang barrel, give it a little corrosion protection and party on. We've all been doing this since we were in elementary school. Do not let OCD take you away from what's important.

Varmint profile stock. Use a "bag rider"/"accuracy asset" kind of thing when you shoot from a bench. Kind of like this: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/645901/egw-bag-rider-ar-15-fits-free-float-tubes but not for an AR, obviously. If twas me, I'd pillar bed.

Ah. Thank you for the explanation. The 6 BR is an excellent choice. I think that, as others suggested, a well-built custom varmint rifle is the way that you want to go. Tolerances and scopes were mentioned. Another thing that I'd say is that the 3" wide, flat forearm on our rifles would be...

    New member introduction.

I've sold (pretty cheap!) a couple of 6 PPC barrels to friends that wanted to set them back and make 6 BR varmint barrels. Seemed to meet their needs. As mentioned, most folks want to shoot longer/heavier bullets in the 6 BR. That requires a faster twist rate (1:10 for the mids, 1:8 for the...
