    Fail to Fire (FTF)

Failure to fire Only failure to fire I've had were Remington, including pistols in competition. BUT, with Eley in past years, I've had POOF or Boom and it didn't help scores. Old Lapua was most consistent, then not so good but lately seems better. Saving some of the old Federal for one gun...

Now im ready to glass bed

Acraglas Yes used this a lot in past. Runs everywhere, use clay to build dams. New epoxy a LOT better. Also old way was to bed 1-2 inch forward of action. And in old days have seen WHOLE barrel bedded but bedded to Float. This made sure wood didn't warp and stiffened thin foreends so they did...

    Scope manufacturers

Benchrest scopes Check in with E-Bay. I search scopes and just got a Japan Tasco 36X50 that was made one year for 218 total. Other scopes show up and keep checking classified here. Good deals happen but go quick. Got Leupold's, Sighttrons, Weavers and old Tascos on my rifles, both 22 and high...

    Renaissance miro - crystalline wax

Renaissance wax This is what I use for longer term protection against rust. Used here by NRA museum and recommended by the director at the time. Not in bore for me though. Just normal there. It seems to work good and not problem with some normal handling of guns or knives. A little goes a long way.

Is there Such a Thing as a Good Lower Priced Scope ?

Tasco Japan The old Tasco Japan 36x scopes were good. Sometimes you can find one at bargain prices. Don't like current or anything but Japan made personally. Warranty gone but ABO in Florida used to repair reasonable. Sightron 36 good but dot small. I've been up from bottom myself. Gave up got...

A great value in long range scopes.

Sightron 10-50 I have 2 and they are great. Better resolving at 300 yds. than 36 Weaver or regular Sightron. Now can clearly see 6 mm holes, even in colored bands. before needed Nightforce guys to help spot. At 300 10-50 Sightron looks equal to 42 Nightforce. Can't say about longer yds, but...

Does anyone shoot matches using IBS target?

Here in Springfield, MO we use this target on what we call "factory" night. Have 2 targets shot with classes including semi's. Then shoot 2 targets we call unlimited but you have to use sandbags, no one piece rests. Some 40X's and Suhls shoot 250's but with some windy nights change things. (Yes...

lead rear weight ofr Fulghum rest ( Randolph Machines)

600 yard shooters use them to add weight to rear of rest. I was asking this for a friend. He saw several but people didn't know or share where they got them. One guy said he got one from here a while ago. Some thought they we made in Arkansas. Probably someone made a mold and poured some. He is...

    Sure name in the forum?

I'm retired law enforcement. A lot of us had unlisted phone numbers. I never did and only had one fool call me. But in this world, I like using screen name. No Facebook either. But anyone who is regular here, I will gladly identify myself if you don't know. No trolls HEH HEH Sid

    Concealed carry in my truck.

Maybe top cops hate it, but they are politicians these days. Most cops who do all the grunt work are with us. I trained over 100 private security people after Katrina and had to make sure they knew Louisiana laws. Texas use of deadly force is more broad, but some other states really restrictive...

    Concealed carry in my truck.

Keybear has good point. You need to worry about criminal and civil things that WILL happen. Factory ammo, factory gun all as used by regular law enforcement is good way to fend off these. As retired law enforcement, I carry Colt Cobra with Winchester factory ammo that FBI issued at one time...

    Jap model Tasco

I like the older Japan Tasco's. Have 2 36X used for years, 2 6X24 and one 8x32. Only the 8x32 not to good over 24x, Others not up to Leupold but work perfect for rimfire or group shooting and testing high powers. Sold the 8x40 - 56 just TOO big.

older reloading scale & priming tool

Early Lee, used seperate screw-in holders. Great to set depth but you had to handle primers one at a time. Gave all my old one aways several years ago for newer styles.
