    UBR question

What about a Sako 75 in 6PPC? More or less desireable than the Savage?

    UBR question

What Savage model? That might be the intersection of the two rules that I'm looking for.

    UBR question

I'm caught between two definitions of "Factory". The bottom line being that the Varming "No “custom shop” rifles: i.e. 40X, Cooper, Kimber, Dakota, Lazzaroni, & special/custom shop orders." That rules out getting a Cooper. I'm looking at a Sako. Wonder what the VHA is going to say about...

    Shut 'er down!!

I work at Wright-Patterson AFB. Non-essential here means "not active duty military". Take it FWIW. All of the civil servants are furloughed today and do not know if they'll be back paid or no. That's up to our lawmakers when they finally get around to doing their job and pass a continuing...

    PPC - 0.264 chamber

I have shot the LT-32 a tad in a 6 PPC. My recommendation is to go with Lou Murdica's recommendation. I've shot it quite a bit in the 220 Beggs with 53 gr Hillbilly FB. It shooters slightly better than Benchmark in my barrel. With all the usual caveats (start low, etc), I found happiness...

    Rifles/Cartridge Availability and Combinations

We need to hook you up with Jerry Sharrett. He lives near Knoxville. I think he told me that there are 4 or 5 ranges within 30 min of his house. I know of three ranges shooting some form of benchrest near Knoxville. I'm confident that there are more. Heck, we had the UBR National...

    PPC - 0.264 chamber

Mine is a pure magi with a 265. That because that is the diameter where the Norma brass cleans up. It works for me. I back off a tad on "tension". Don't know that it really makes a huge difference. It just seemed like a good place to start, it worked and I never changed. I haven't played...

    neck turner

I have one. Other than the 2/10ths adjustment vs the Pumpkin's 1/10th, I like it just as well.

    243 win 1-12

Sierra 85 grain HPBT and H4350. Start 20 thou off the lands and work you way toward them. My load works 5 thou off. Start with 40 grains of 4350. If you can't find something that shows promise with that, sell the rifle. If it does, and you want to tweak, you might try H414, IMR4064 and...

Time to do a proper job of reloading and get a full length sizing die for 6mm ppc

Quick thoughts: 1. Redding's lead time for custom dies is currently un-workable. 2. Whidden's dies are hardened. I have one of his does for my 50 thou-long-neck 30 BR. It's very nice and they are great to deal with. 3. I have a Borden-spec Harrell's for a Borden 30 BR that I bought off a...

    McMillan Edge, Kelbly Klub

...and it is incumbent on the customers to vote with their dollars. There is a well known supplier that I've done my last bit of business with after their customer service went to heck.

Just don't try to change between Edge-type and Klub-type forearms. The front bag setup is quite different. You can guess how I found out.

    Magnetospeed Barrel Mounted Chronograph

The Magnetospeed is just so handy. Basically, keep it with you all the time and when you want to capture velocity, put it on. No fuss, no muss, no cease fire. Not affected by light conditions, target angle, etc. Very consistent. Oh, and you can shoot good groups with one on the barrel.

I thought the entire state was a pheasant preserve! Seriously, I wish that I wasn't so far away. Would love to shoot there.

    100yrd br rifle

If you have to conform to IBS or NBSRA short range benchrest rules, that Tracker most likely isn't going to do it. I'd check with Bob White at the Shooter's Corner to see if he has a stock that will fit your action. Failing that, you can order one from Kelbly's and wait till it's done.

    30PPC / 30BR / 222 versus the 6PPC

It's like everything else. You have to have the whole package to be competitive. 1. A competitive gun. 2. The knowledge to get a tune and keep it. 3. The ability to read conditions. 4. The skill to drive the rifle. I think that on any given day, I have about 1.5 to 2 of those.
