For Light gun, the fixed 42 NF Comp. For everything else, a 55 Comp NF. Caveat being I have not used any March scopes, and I would like to try a fixed 50X. (old eyes need magnification!)

Great advice. I used to shoot across the course, and thought I knew what I was doing. I blew $4,000 on the wrong action, wrong trigger, wrong stock, wrong scope and wrong caliber. Then I bought a USED 6.5 x 284 for under a grand (less scope) and shot better. (600 yard guns)

Reversing a Farley That is correct. I bought a southpaw unit, took it apart and set it up for a righty, and the faceplate text is upside down.

Matches go pretty quick now... we shoot a sighter card, then 3 cards for record before changing relays. Then we shoot the last two cards. Then its off to BUDDY'S TAVERN! Doug just put a new 30BR barrel on my old 308, so I'm gonna chase him down with those 112's!

No, we have not used flags in the past... there are some streamers suspended about 20' from the benches. the 11 benches are very close to each other, and flags would be a distraction, I think. In the winter things get interesting once we fire up the wood burning stove made from an old oil tank.

Pick a discipline first... When you say target shooting, do you mean casual paper punching or formal competition? A competition gun will usually be too heavy and bulky for field use. Most have very heavy barrels and bulky stocks. And crazy light triggers that should NEVER be on a game gun...

Wish I had... I opted for the All Purpose version. That turned out to be a mistake. I did not realize that the AP version will NOT fit an Edgewood bag. Go for the BR top. Love the windage adjuster too.

Don't let it out of your sight. Even best friends sometimes get careless and accidents happen. Be there with the rifle for a test session, and let the choice be made. If you can't shoot it after an hour, you can't shoot it; no reason to keep "trying" it.
