My problem with the "parallel node"

With good skill, good equipment and good ammo - the tuner really doesn't have to "work" very hard. I was told by a top competitor that... "if you have the absolute best ammo for your rifle, it makes no difference if you are tuned, untuned, or don't even have a tuner!"

260 Remington, Brass and Barrel Life

My first 260 barrel lasted 4600 rounds before dying in a most violent manner (in a match). It had some heat cracking in as little as 1500 rounds. My 260AI had 2200+ when it was sold and looked very close to new, no cracking. I don't know if it really would have went longer than the 260, but it...

    22lr compared to centerfire

A 22lr with subsonic ammo has 7-8 moa drift at 200 yards, which is about what a .308 has at 1k.

So we are somewhere in the order of 20-30 years of 'set in ways'! No wonder BR is a 'small crowd'. It only caters to those who want to do something JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!

Seems there is no way to please everyone. Best edge favors 30's, worst edge 17's. How about that reticle scoring device with a crosshair and judge score by center of bullet hole? Nope, too slow and still has room for argument. How about a competition where anything is legal, except muzzle brakes...

Rimfire bullet design, something to think about

Streamlining the nose won't do much except shift the CG, CP or both. Subsonic bullet drag is mainly base drag and the only way to address this is with a boattail. As for the accuracy, rimfire, at 1060 is below the start of what is a plateau in elevation differences with variations in velocity...

what is really the most challenging benchrest style to shoot?

That sums it up nicely, and can be applied to all disciplines.

Is there some center fire ///rim-fire rift???

I came from short and long range centerfire. Started rimfire in 06 but BR in 07 and have to say, both sides have lots of questions about the other. I enjoy both, but the quiet nature of rimfire is very nice.

New Gun Building Advice for .22 BR 50 10/22

Some believe it is the 1st and last round of a magazine that traditionally give a different POI. Try a 10 round magazine and do not include your 1st and last shot in the group.
