    Question regarding bedding a rimfire

Did you build the ramp to single shot control round feed? IF not, how did you get around the fixed extractor?

    Benchrest Rifle Triggers

I prefer the BixNAndy myself. It seems to be more crisp. I have had to polish a few surfaces inside to make it consistent on some of them though. The FF has an inherent design issue that causes creep. The sear is a ball bearing that meets with a hard edge. The bearing must be on the flat...

    World Rimfire Championship 2024 (WBSF)

Looks like a lot of good shooting. Some day I need to travel out of the US and try something like this. I am not sure, but I think Etienne was shooting a 2500X gun smithed by GAC in Italy?? Is there an equipment list that goes with this at any time? Anyway, congrats to all the shooters and...

    Repeater actions from Turbo

These guys don't understand the issues with getting a magazine correctly placed to the action in order to make it feed etc. The best repeater setups always have a bottom metal that locates the magazine and has matched pillars to correctly place the components. When we built centerfire actions...

Left the Range George Kelbly Sr

My sincere condolences to all of the Kelbly family. They always welcomed me and made me feel like I belonged. The most memorable time I saw him was at Midland. He acted like we were old friends and I really enjoyed spending the week with him. He will be missed by all his friends and family.

    Which barrel tuner.

The JNL will work fine. The only real advantage of the Holeshot would be some data from others etc for good tune areas. Basically, most Harrells and Holeshot tuners have a spot between 175 and 225 with lots of them working near 200. It may save some time in the process. If I already had it...

    Not good news!

Watching the news and seeing students in some of these ivy league schools and some of our "favorite" congressmen condoning terrorism and anti-Semitism makes me feel that maybe we need to love ourselves a little more. At least some of us! Makes me sick to think of where some of this is headed.

Change in rimfire BR over the last 10 years

Prince has an excellent point. At this time, given good ammo and conditions, a whole lot more shooters have a chance to win or place in the top few. The average equipment that competitors have is much better than it used to be. A large part of it in my opinion is consistency in the available...

    Ammo!

Finding good ammo is just part of the game, kinda like reloading in centerfire. I agree it's a huge PITA, but it is just one of the discriminators in winning. The equipment, ammo and shooter are all important parts of this sport. If we got issued ammo, the equipment game would also drop, as...

How did I get there (my story)

I am curious, if that is the range of fouling that hurts accuracy, it seems that it is risky to try two cards. My shot count would almost always exceed that on two cards. If it's real calm or very switchy, I may get by with that, but in more normal conditions I usually hit about 45 to 50 per...

Rimfire Benchrest rifles (Calfee SPEC rifles)

Just asking but why is the Peightal built Nitro in a Calfee spec rifle thread? Just curious.

    Jeff Patterson's J-PAT SPEC Rifles

I don't really care, but with that criteria would there be any of the old Calfee spec guns still considered a "Calfee Spec Rifle"? I think the owners of them and the Calfee lovers want them to continue on as "Spec Guns". I am not aware of what they have on them still, maybe Sherrill's is one...

    Chambers for RFBR rifles

Kevin; Congrats on your new life coming up. Hopefully it will be all you hope for. If you can do good work in the RFBR sport, there will be more business than you want. There aren't probably a handful of good qualified guys that can build a winning national level gun at this point. Your...

Rimfire Benchrest rifles (Calfee SPEC rifles)

Tony, the ONLY reason I even responded is because of your statement above. Is that statement not just an example of what you are complaining about? I felt compelled to defend RA and all of it's members. End of story for me. BTW, attacks from WWA are neither artful or more subtle.

Rimfire Benchrest rifles (Calfee SPEC rifles)

Tony, I am kind of at a loss here as to what you want from me. I have never talked bad about you or anything that you do. I honestly don't feel I have really ever talked bad about anyone. If posters on RA post opinions, then they do. Just because I don't remove every one doesn't also mean I...

    Threaded tuners?

Depending on the tuner, the bottom of the bore inside hits the end of the barrel. I am mostly familiar with Harrels and my Holeshot versions. They are approx 1.175 deep on the bore. You are really better off not cutting the barrel unless you have to. IF you have to bore the tuner anyways...

    Threaded tuners?

First of all, I am only shooting 50 yard ARA type of benchrest currently. ALL of my efforts go to that goal. I think most of my issues and data apply at longer range, but absolute accuracy is maybe less important due to outside environmental conditions in longer range. I do most of my testing...
