Need help removing a barrel from a Ruger Mark 3

You'll need a stout rear entry action wrench; the stainless steel one will get twisted. PBike257@gmail.com makes a good hard one. You might want to take the action out of the stock and soak the barrel/action with Kroil or a good penetrating oil and then apply the muscle. You can also add heat to...

    Current IBS rule question

I have done the same thing Kent does a hundred times, or more. "Cease fire", check the clock and know I have 30 minutes to clean, load, and hear "Commence fire". At WWCCA and the time constraints put on the range because of the close proximity of a church and the 10:00 AM start, range personnel...

    Rail gun/barrel block

I have two rail guns, in fact one is built by JLCPrecision. They both shoot well and have earned sapwood for me. The only way I would feel any tightness would be with a patch or a brush and I haven't. I've never tried running a slug down the barrel. In my experience, the rail has all the...

    Primer pocket prep and cleaning

For what it's worth, I agree with Joe Salt. What you are looking for is uniformity but within spec with the primer depth. The bottom of the primer pocket doesn't have to be mirror sharp so you can see your pretty mug looking back at you.

    Cleaning outside of necks

A California gunsmith and machinist named Donald "Pumpkin" Neilson once told me steel wool never, never, never has a place on a reloading bench. So I don't use steel wool.

    Simple cleaning rod question.

You're old enough to have retired? You went to the moon? I wonder if you're the guy that bumped me from the flight. Jcwit This whole worthless thread isn't going anywhere. Wait for a more worthwhile windmill to tilt. Butch, and I for that matter, have been there done that. And I'm a Vet.

    windflags finished (at last)

They look good to me Johan. Use them every chance you have. Insist on having them in front of you in a full rotation match. We use 25 for a full rotation match at 200 yards. It's work and it's time consuming but you will be able to read them better than any others after you have used them a few...
