    GAP Crusader for F-Class?

With your mentioned choice in caliber, I'm assuming you mean F-Open and not F/TR? With that said, it's doable and have seen tactical shooters compete well against a dedicated F-class rig. It really comes down to how well the gun fits you and like Jeff said, it's all about reading conditions. I...

Any Bets on What the Quake Costs US Taxpayers?

What better way to become self-sufficient as Americans once again than to not have anyone to rely on. What happened in Japan is truly a tragedy but we've relied on them for certain industries for a while. Now is the time to get back to producing GDP and putting local folks back to work.

F/TR or F-Open with Tactical rifle?

.260 is a great round compared to the .308 (not that .308 isn't) but if going F-Open, you better look at something more in line with a 6.5-284 or 284 as they have the speed over the .260. F/TR in my opinion puts everyone on more of a level playing field than F-Open. You will probably find that...

    remington 700 sps tactical .308

Remington barrel is 1/12 and will stabilize SMK 175s or Hornady 175/178s. This will be a good rig for your needs and will give you good service.

    help me understand, Please!

Lee, I think we all get caught up in tolerance this and tolerance that but at the end of the day, it's the shooter that makes a difference. When you start talking 600 yards, it's about reading wind, flags, mirage, etc. and how to compensate. Therefore, know your equipment and practice with it...

    shoes for metal work....

Yes, they will have the Vibram sole. Bottom line is that if you want quality, I would stay away from the boots with soles that are glued on much like your cheaper hiking boots. The Danner brand you want to look at are the Quarry or RainForest line or any other line with sole similar to these...

    shoes for metal work....

Wolverines are a very comfortable boots but the several pair I had always seemed to crack in the sole where the foot flexes. For the money, they should last longer than they do. I have since gone to Danner boots. Can't beat 'em for comfort and durability but the stitch downs cost some $$.

    Action Build Log.

Leeroy, This has been an excellent thread and enjoyable to see it come to fruition. I did not catch what material your bolt was made from but I did notice that you said your bolt catch was 4140. Have you thought about making it out of a milder steel so that peening won't occur to the bolt if it...

    Ltr remington

There are many good powders out there that will work. For my LTR, I main shoot 168 and 175 SMKs. Therefore, it looks like you are looking for a hunting round. As stated earlier, the prevalent powders of choice for .308 are IMR4064, Varget, and RL-15. I get great results with the following: -...

    Grades of Remington actions?

I have heard that actions with a 'F' in the serial numbers are in fact cast actions. As for the BDL and tacticals being a better action, I'm not seeing it. I have a circa '88 ADL action that is heads and shoulders smoother than than a circa 2005 LTR I own. The ADL action also shows no cratering...

    Problem with a Burris.

I bought a new Burris FFII 3-9x40 a couple years ago and I could not get my .243 to group better than a pie plate @ 100 yards. I did everything to the gun without questioning the scope. Lastly, I tried and different scope which told the tale. I contacted Burris stating the scope would not hold...

    Scope leveling?

I think I've also seen where others have mentioned using a feeler guage b/t the bottom of the scope and the scope rail to even it out....I.E. Seat the flat bottom of the scope (turret area) against feeler guages. Once level, remove feeler guage and tighten down.

    CZ 550 American in .308

Whistler, I forgot to mention that my CZ 550 in .243 absolutely will not shoot 100 grain bullets worth a darn. I've tried Varget, IMR4350 and 4064 and all produced shotgun groups. I have found that this gun really likes Sierra 85gr BTHP with Win. brass and 37.8gr of Varget and BR2s. Give that a...
