This is what I think... for most retailers it's make 30-50% on the sale and another 20% on the "shipping and handling". It's a royal f*****g so just realize it and don't support those online retailers who engage in royal f*****g the consumer. jmho --greg

Rolf... if it's an original B keep it original the value is in the gun not customizing it. The comment about the trigger is true. I have had B's and they are certainly accurate but the B trigger is inferior to a C or D 52 trigger. Kenyon used to make a drop in replacement but they were $375 10...

I called Ackerman a few months ago. He said he didn't repair Lymans (not sure if he would bump) but did repair the old steel tube Weavers. Parts I guess?

Bob... Bob, I have shot and owned both and have yet to find a Lyman STS with a good a set of optic as a Unertl. JMHO and experience. I have one STS currently, out at Parsons for a look see. Its a 25X and its good but no Unertl IMHO. --Greg

Certainly... the German late WW II Stg 44 had an influence on the overal configuration of the AK 47 as well as the cartridge it fired.

Saubier.. had a gun or guns built by Bob Green when he used to shoot benchrest more or less steadily. He is one fine gunsmith.

I certainly don't disagree.. that Browning is probably at the top of the heap when you consider the sheer number of designs he authored and the influence they had on both the military and civilian sport shooters and hunters. The Einstein of firearms designers.

If its not barrel heat... as already mentioned it could be a lens or lenses that are loose in their cell(s). I had that happen to the front objective lens of a Nightforce a couple of years ago. I sent it back and they replaced the scope. Good luck and exhaust all obvious possibilities before...

I guess I would give my vote... to John Garand, a native Canadian. That one semi auto rifle gave American troops SUCH an advantage over the bolt action equiped Nazis and Japs that it often determined the outcomes of encounters. It was the right design at the right time. Paton was right!
