    52C actions screw sizes?

If you want to make the end look original, be sure a put a radius on it after cutting. The original screw had a 3/8" radius on it, with radius centerline measured 3/8" back, towards head, from end of screw. Steve

    52C actions screw sizes?

Don, I checked the factory drawings, and you are correct. The front screw is 1/4-32, and the rear tang screw is .220-36, They are same for B and C. The D & E have same thread sizes however length and head configuration on front action screw is different. Rear tang screws are same, however the...

    winchester 52d

sub quarter, thanks for the info. It is indeed a standard weight barrel rifle, which is relatively rare in the D model. As I mentioned earlier, for some reason there were a bunch of these made at the beginning of D production. Perhaps Winchester was trying to unload some left over C barrels. The...

    Remington 20x BR scope

These were made by Remington for their 40X bench rest rifles in the early 70's. They were designed to be mounted on the receiver, as opposed to the receiver and barrel. Remington made them in very limited quantities in both 20x and 24x. They are excellent scopes with excellent optics. Steve

    winchester 52d

That's a pretty darn early D you have there. I keep track of serial numbers on D's and E's, and the earliest s/n I have recorded is in the 10530X range. I would be curious to know if it is a standard weight barrel or heavy weight. The standard weight barrels have a muzzle diameter around 3/4"...

Which model 52 do I have? Sights?

This 52 is an "A" model that was manufactured with all the "A" features, but was not stamped as such. Model 52 "A" production began at about the mid s/n 36xxx mark. They were not actually stamped with "A" suffix until about s/n 40000. The reason for the "A" revision was to alleviate a safety...

    Win 52D CMP rail ?

The original factory drawing for this part show's the same cut-out through out production, and was never changed. The cutout is basically .700" long(including radius at each end), and .464" wide. It is located over center hole in rail. Factory calls for extruded aluminum w/black anodized finish...

    Winchester 52 International Match Help!

Just a couple points of clarification... According to Winchester production numbers, there were approximately 500 Internationals made over the span of 1969-1980. Of this number, there were 37 International Prones which used a completely different stock with removable cheek piece. These are the...

    Winchester 52 International Match Help!

dbl, Winchester DID provide this stock on their Internationals from the factory. It was produced by Freeland and sold to Winchester. The question is whether this particular rifle being so early in production, came originally with this particular stock, and is in fact an International model. Steve

    Winchester 52 International Match Help!

Brian is right about the low serial number. All the D Internationals I have seen are in the 122XXX or above. Keep in mind that the D International was not introduced until mid year 1969. A "D" with a 117XXX serial number will raise a lot questions. That is not to say that it could have built off...

    Win 52-B

If it is not drilled/tapped already, the easiest solution is to get one of Ken Viani's mounts. They use the existing holes on the barrel and the receiver sight holes on the action. It's all bolt on with no hassle, and a quality piece of workmanship as well. I don't have his number at hand...

    Win 52-B

It would depend on what mounts were originally used. Since the B's were not drilled and tapped from the factory, any number of mounts could have been used originally. Weaver makes bases that fit a 52E. Possibly they might work. It would depend on how many holes are in receiver and what the...

    Twist rate question

I have always found that I need to shoot faster ammo in my 17.5 twist Benchmark irregardless of temp. If I don't shoot over 1070 fps, it will keyhole using Eley EPS ammo. When it gets cold it becomes worse. I would suggest you try some Lapua or Eley semi auto with round nose bullets. That seem's...
