    Is hurricane sandy a bellwether?

I am still waiting! When I was in the 5th grade (1954), there were some engineers from General Motors who made a presentation at our school. They had a small car (about 2 feet long) with a solar cell on top. When they shined a light on the cell the car accelerated slowly across the stage. Then...

    One more scope related question.

Abintx, Gene Bukys uses an externally adjustable mount. He has done okay in the last few years. He has twice won the World Championship, the Super Shoot, and shot his way into the Hall of Fame. Tony Boyer uses conventional mounting systems and he, too, has done okay. Whatever works and one has...

    Precision Shooting Magazine

PS recently changed printers. It is now printed in Indiana. The October edition was late because of this change. I don't know about November, since I haven't received it yet. Good shooting...James

    Is hurricane sandy a bellwether?

Who do you choose to believe? I just watched Joe Bastardi ( world renowned climatologist), who stated that climate change and/or global warming was NOT the cause of the recent hurricane in the NE. On the other hand we have Al Gore who claims the opposite. Along with Al are a bunch of...

    Ignition failures

Don't set your dies by the "feel" method on your brass. Use a "doo hickey" to measure the length of the fired brass...then set you dies to just touch the shoulder without shortening the case length. After you have fired it once as a PPC, I don't think you will have any problems. Good shooting...

    New HOF member

Congratulations MIke. In 2005 I wrote an article about five "Up and Coming" Benchrest shooters (appeared in Feb. 2006). The five shooters were Wayne Campbell, Joe Krupa, Jack Neary, Mike Ratigan, and Mark Buettgen. None were in the Hall of Fame then, but their talent said that they would be...

    Berger 6mm Hybrid bullets

I would like to say a word about the 105gr. Hybrid bullet in 6mm. Eric Stecker gave me these for use in a Brux 8 twist barrel that I was testing. I can say that both the barrel and the bullets are excellent. The following groups were shot yesterday in the rain without windflags. I used both...

How do you shoot a teen agg??

GOOD EQUIPMENT, good conditions, and a lot of practice. James PS On most days it takes changing one's load during the agg. This is learned from experience in reading what the last target told you. This is really the hard part of shooting small aggs. Also, when I said good equipment, that...

    Dale Rose----sad news

We are truly diminished. Everyone that met Dale seemed to like him. He will be missed. He finished in the top 20 in the 2-gun at this year's SS and was justifiably proud. My condolences and prayers go to his family and friends. James Mock

    Saguaro actions

John, the action is the same width as a Panda but measures 7.5 inches long. The bolt is only 5.5 inches long. Since the action was glued in, I could not weigh it, but the rifle with a 36X Weaver weighed 10.16 pounds. It is lighter than a Panda, but don't know how much. Are you ready for Phoenix...

Anybody heard from henry childs or baron graham

Like myself, Henry lives in North Louisiana, and we got quite a bit of rain, but nothing that endangers us. Those like Don Geraci took the brunt of the storm. Don lives in Independence....which is just north of Lake Pontchatrain. They received an extreme amount of rain, plus the water coming...

    Green Mamba stock

That is Doc's rifle that I remember. It is a Nesika-actioned rifle that was first built by Speedy. Dr. Tim now does his own 'smith work. James

    Saguaro actions

Dr. William Marsh of the Phoenix area has built a new action. The action is similar to the popular Panda but is shortened by 1.0625 inches. In my tests, the rifle built by Gary Ocock has performed superbly. Here are some pictures of it and the groups I have shot trying different loads. James

    Green Mamba stock

Al, the rifle belongs to Dr. Tim Oltersdorf. I had a picture a few years ago, but a computer crash cost me that and many other photos. Maybe Tim will see this and furnish one. James
