I have to agree with Jackie. Sizing wax. But too much will dimple the case. If you put just a dab of sizing wax on one palm and rub it between your palms you will have just a thin film of sizing wax on your hands. Then roll the case between your palms. Make sure you get the neck and the...

    Burris Signature Zee Rings Screw

They are a vast improvement. I believe the ones I use are 1". It leaves enough to put an acorn nut on which makes a positive lock on the screw. I used stainless and am well satisfied. Jeffrey

    260 Remington (Lapua brass problem)

Ben in Oz: <Is the 58000 psi measured or what's in Hodgdon's online manual?> Yes Hodgdon manual . Quickload actually 57801 psi. with the bullet seated for 3.010 cartridge length. I have found Quickload to be quite reliable. <<Here's a link to the SAAMI maximum cartridge/minimum chamber...

    260 Remington (Lapua brass problem)

Jerry: I agree with all of your conclusions. However the load I am using is 142 SMK H4350 43.5. That is one grain under max by Hodgdon online manual. Pressure is under 58K. There should be no appreciable case expansion at this pressure. I am running Lapua 6 BR (N) cases at 60+ and these...

    260 Remington (Lapua brass problem)

Charles: My wife's aunt lives in Burney. It is still a mill town and doing OK. The mill is still open. Lots of mills have closed here in the North North of the state. Jeffrey

    260 Remington (Lapua brass problem)

Brass formed from Lapua 308 Win LP. Ten cases loaded. Will check cases after fire form. The neck is SAAMI (.298) so the loaded cartridge neck (.2964) has enough clearance, for now. It is storming up here. I am about 45 miles South East of Redding Ca. I may get to shoot on Thursday. Jeffrey

    260 Remington (Lapua brass problem)

I am a 1000 yard shooter from Northern California. I have built a 260 Remington. It is the large action Savage with a Criterion 30" barrel, one inch at muzzle. It was chambered with a PTG 260 Remington reamer by Criterion. Head space is correct. I am loading Lapua 260 Remington brass. This...

    3" Forearm Plate for rifle

A couple of years ago I bought a couple of 3" black aluminum plates to put on the forearms of my 12BVSS Savages, which had round forearms. This allowed them to fit in my 3" front rest. These did not come from Sinclair. They had no name on them. The bottom plate was black aluminum with a hole...

    6 MM 115gr Bullets Accuracy

Bob: Please explain 243 SLR I do not find it in Quick Load. What is parent case. 6X47, 6X49, 6X51 or in American cases 300 Savage, 22/250, 243 Win. Does it have an Ackley shoulder and a more or less one caliber neck? Knowing these things I can run up in Quickload and see what it works like...

    6 MM 115gr Bullets Accuracy

Rooshooter: I am not quite in your area. I am in Northern California. Thanks all the same RBD: It seems that there was some published info some time back that said 115 gr 6mm bullets would work in an 8 twist barrel. This seems not to be so. I am looking into 6X47 Lapua. Thanks to both...

    6 MM 115gr Bullets Accuracy

I have been looking into the 6 X 47 Lapua cartridge. It seems to be a good match for the 115 gr 6 MM bullets. My big question now is about the inherent accuracy of the 115 gr bullets. Most of what I have found says the 115 gr bullets at 1000 yards do not have the inherent accuracy of the...

    Brass Neck Thickness

I have not decided neck clearance yet, but it will be between .001 - .0015" on each side. My 6 BR is a no turn and it is about .00125" on a side. It seems to work well and the neck thickness is ~.013". I have about a .266" die for a good bit of neck tension. Jeffrey

    Brass Neck Thickness

Octopus: The reasons for the neck down are two. First I would like to try Lapua Palma brass, small primer. Second the neck gets a bit longer when necking down. The 260 case is actually about .5 mm longer than the 308W case. Thank you for the info. Jeffrey

    Brass Neck Thickness

I am building a 260 Rem. Will be making brass from Lapua 308 Palma. In sizing down the neck, it will get thicker and a bit longer. I would like to just clean up the necks. This should come out around .015". Is this too thick? I know Jackie S. likes to keep the brass. I will use final neck...

260 Remington, Brass and Barrel Life

I am planning to build a 260 Remington for 1000 yard shooting. The biggest questions I have heard raised are first: Will the brass flow forward more than the 260AI because the the 260 Rem shoulder angle is only 20 degrees? I will be using Lapua 308 Palma brass. Secondly will throat erosion...

    260 Rem/ 6.5-08

Arne: Your comment about the availability of Lapua is probably correct. I had really never thought of it. Making brass to me is just part of the normal order of things. My requirement is that I be able to make my brass with Lapua brass. When you made your 260 brass from Lapua 308 Palma...

    Wolf primers at Wideners

Seating Depth In looking around on the web about Wolf primers FTF I find seating depth called into question. Jerry in post # 7 of this thread notes Wolf primers are .005" shorter than others. Run a Google search for "Wolf primers not seated deep enough". You will find several items. I have...

    260 Rem/ 6.5-08

Arne: I agree that the 6 X 47 Lapua with 130 VLD's is in the same class with 260 AI with 142's. The loss is wind drift. The 6 X 47 L 130 drift will be about 1/2 way between 260 AI 142 and 6 BR 107 SMK at 1000 yards. Actually the 6 X 47 with 123 SMK will drift about as much as the 6 BR 107 SMK...
