I have brass that has had a ton of firing on them, and I can say I have never seen the necks thin out at all.

Well to start, The best advise I could give is do some research before you jump in. As mentioned Mike Ratigans book is a great source, I also highly recamend Glenn Newicks book. After that go to a couple of matchs, not to compete but to observe. Take notes, and ask questions. Best way to find...

    Harrel's measure - which one?

I use a custom 90, and have done well with it. I have used both and can say that the only diference is cosmetic, and a slight bit nicer feel. The Preimum is on bearing the custom 90 is not. They will all throw charges as accurate as each other.

Poor boy needs advice on Savage choices

Before you take this gun to a smith for tweeking, check the rules and see what is aloud. If your shooting a factory class, you may not be aloud to do anything to the rifle. The aftermarket barrel and trigger may disqulify you.

    Is 7mm ? accurate enough for 600m to 1000m

Is a 7 mm accurate enough for 600 and 100 yard competition. Well read this and see what you think. http://www.accurateshooter.com/guns-of-week/gunweek071/ You ask, "What are competitive or the winning combinations - cal, barrel and twist in 600m to 1000m bench rest target Comp." Look at the...

    Question about Hottenstein bullets

The best advise I was EVER given was from Jack Neary, he state that you need to "Go thin to win." and "N133 likes neck tension." I shoot a .262 chamber and cut my brass to .0083, and I use a .255 bushing. It works for me.

    Question about Hottenstein bullets

Welcome to the site. Hottenstien bullets are great and have had many wins and records behind them. The only problem with them is with the boat tail, and seating them out to the lands on a standard JGS 1045 reamer chamber with .060 freebore, there is barly any bullet sitting in the case. I know...

    Precision Shooting's benchrest primer II?

This year ended with some sad news that Precision Shooting was no longer going to be publishing the magazine that so many loved. I was reading one of my favorite reference books the "Benchrest Primer," and it hit me, what is the chances that the members of Precision Shooting would make and...

most consistent powder for benchrest ?

Well to start, you need to identify what kind of benchrest your talking about. I will asume you are talking about 600 and 1000 yard benchrest, as the powders you have stated, are inaporperate for what is used in "point blank" or 100-300 yard benchrest. Then again many shooters think that if you...

    New Shilen actions

Well all they are is a Stiller preditor action with a diferent treading to accept a savage barrel. It would be as competitive as a Stillar preditor. The question is what do you consider "benchrest comp?" I would say it would be plenty accurate , and a good fit for 600 and 1000 yard benchrest...

Poor boy needs advice on Savage choices

Here the thread goes on, and Terbuck has yet to reply back describing what his total intent on the rifle is. I know you guys mean well, but maybe he is only looking to get into club matchs where the club has a factory class. He may also be limited in scope power depending on the club rules. It...

Is there a nbrsa class for this type of gun??

Looks like a savage, (I can see the bolt release on the side.) that is in a custom tube gun style stock. I know that the gun doesn't conform to short range/point blank IBS or NBRSA rules. Now in mid and long range it is possible, as noted the bi pod would have to be removed. There would be a...
