    30 BR Questions

So far none of these posts have mentioned that you must not anneal the case head area, or anywhere near it. The head must be left hard for strength. crb, did your click on extraction go away? The click is caused by not sizing the base area enough.....annealing the front end of the case likely...

    Record & Rules

Hi Hal.....I'm kind of surprised that this one's hung on this long.......I recall seeing 100M results from one of the southern ranges on a pretty regular basis. It seems like there are more and more shooters shooting 30 cal. LV's all the time, it probably won't be long. The 100M is the only one...

    Record & Rules

After reading all of this I walked out and looked at the record certificate. It's dated September 12th, 2004. The record was set at Painted Post NY, with a 6PPC, well after the 30BR was on the scene. Back then there weren't many ranges shooting meters, and Painted Post was tough to shoot. The...

Where is the 2009 Nationals for score ?

Start early (now), and wait 'till I call and tell you to stop......or until you hear a splash and taste salt water......whichever comes first.:p -Dave-:)

Where is the 2009 Nationals for score ?

I saw this post a few days ago and thought to myself "Well, that's going to to be unreasonably far". I just map quested it, and it came up 860 miles......only 150 miles further than Dublin, Georgia was for me a few years ago. Hmmm.......... And hey, at the rate oil prices are coming down gas...

    Calipers - Advice

Look at the Mitutoyo digitals........they are accurate and are a good value for a "real" measuring tool. Watch the industrial suppliers, they put them on sale regularly for less than 90 bucks. -Dave-:)

    Jackie's pics

My bet is that, if pushed to failure, it will fracture at the last thread next to the shoulder........I don't think the threads will budge. -Dave-:)

    Jackie's pics

I could hear the drum roll as I scrolled down through the pictures........Then I got to the end and realized that you didn't take the assembly all the way to the failure (yield) point......I'd hoped to see how the joint failed and at what pressure. Still, very informative. -Dave-:)

Green Lasers to line up flags

Do you mean versus having someone who'll tell you for free when they would have and when you should have? -Dave-:)

How much bore runout is too much?

Ahem...It sounds like the chamber and bore must be concentric at the interface, but need not be coaxial...Ahem... Good thing perfectly coaxial isn't necessary; because none of us can get them that way............even by indicating off a rod and letting the bore at the muzzle orbit the...

    6PPC reloading question???

Better yet, send three fired cases to Harrell's and have him send you a FL bushing die that fits and works. -Dave-:)

How much bore runout is too much?

Jerry, you just summed up what many of us have been saying forever. If you succeed in finally getting it across, Deltronic (it's a COMPANY, not a type of pin) will have to rent out part of their building to someone. I think most of us have observed that, when set back (random "index") a great...

    Wilson Die reloading questions

Note that the "S" FL die is made by Redding, not RCBS...... -Dave-:)

Removing brass buildup on neck turn cutter

Thanks for making that distinction, Francis.......For the record, my legs don't do as well in deep snow as they used to......I know just how Bailey must feel. Hey, if you succeed in getting the family into case turning mode, can I send a few boxes of BR & PPC cases up to you? Oh, and lets not...

    Trimmers... trimmers conundrum

BAT Actions - Why so popular?

Al, have you tried the Imperial Action Wax? I've used it for a few years now and believe that I can feel that the actions work smoother with it on the body, cocking piece, & lugs than the other lubes I've tried. FWIW, -Dave-:)

Removing brass buildup on neck turn cutter

Francis, I haven't had most of the problems I've read about here from time to time either. I just ensure the case/mandrel fit is good, use Imperial sizing die wax inside and out, make sure the cutting tool is in decent shape, and polish the mandrel on the lathe with Flitz once in a while. I've...
