    Military sight picture.

All Guns............ are always loaded. Always..... Never point the gun at something you don't intend to shoot. Keep the trigger finger outside the triggerguard until you're ready to shoot. Always be sure of your target, and what's behind/around it.

Any special techniques when loading for a black nitrided barrel?

DSM, that might be better answered............ with a borescope, to see how much erosion or "alligatoring" there is forward of the chamber. Since this is a form of hardening, it might not make sense to do it under those conditions....

Best procedure for case forming 22 BR Rem.

Another thing you can do to............. avoid the "ring" around the bullet's ogive. This 'ring' is usually put there by two things. One, is not having enough of an angle on your chamfering tool. I always used the Lyman VLD tool w/the wooden handle, because I liked that handle, it was...

How do I check Unertl bases for being level?

What you really, really, REALLY NEED to do is........ take the rifle and put it in a vise, then, take a really nice, screw-slot filling screwdriver and remove the screws holding both offending blocks onto the barrel, and remove said blocks. Then, and ONLY then, take a couple 6-48 taps...

Any special techniques when loading for a black nitrided barrel?

You might send a PM to Butch Lambert, he had quite a bit of experience with one, until it was taken off his hands somehow. He has had another done and has just started working with it, he'd be able to tell you all about it. (He doesn't talk about it, he tries it out.)

    Identifying a rimfire bolt

I also have a CZ 455 bolt here that looks the same, dual extractors, the hole at 12 O'clock, the wing safety.

Gun Clubs with card reader gates?

One thing that is a real consideration is................. LIGHTNING STRIKES !! They can eat a bunch of circuit boards in a season, and that will get expensive.... Grounding didn't seem to work well, a hit anywhere on the fence seemed to act as a racetrack right back to the board in the...

    Hornady 53 gr V-Max in .223

Action Trueness Test On My Old Remington 721 I Just Bought

Jackie, I have to agree with....... German, the choice of backdrops is excellent, and it should be considered again when the rifle is finished, no matter what you do with it. ;)

    Gunsmith for a living

Fred, the other day, I was talking to a guy............... that is one of the Hot-Boat Gurus around here. We touched on such subjects liike, answering the 'phone; reciprocal basking in the mutual good feelings when he's pleased w/a job, and the customer is, too, but has run out of anything else...

    douglas barrels??

I was referring to the barrels produced from the late 60s into the mid 80s(??). There was the Premium, then there was one that I thought was the XX or XX Premium, that was only stamped that way if Douglas installed it. This was back when the two brothers ( forgot their names) ran the works, as...

Can a factory new gun look like THIS?

That's probably from......... QC, y'know, "Quality goes in, before the name goes on". They just wanted you to get a brandy-new gun with a comfortable, "lived in" look, all ready to go to work. And, so all your buddies wouldn't rag on ya at the range about all the glare from the sunshine...

    Odd problem with a trigger

Yes Al, I'd guess that's...... the only conclusion I can come up with. It has ended the problem of follow-down (as you close the bolt) in the colder winter weather. Even down to 11 below, which ain't much, compared to some other areas of the country, I know. We have had some recent winters...

    douglas barrels??

One thing to remember about Douglas......... barrels, their "Top" grade is/WAS(??) only available, as installed by them. At least that was the way it WAS, I don't know about NOW. :D

    6 mm remington

Hey, Bob, some nice............... targets, maybe you got one of the ones that were made while Douglas was still providing those excellent barrels, used when that model came out. Later barrels I've shot, seldom stood still for that kind of grouping....:D
