    Scope Frustation.

Bob: yes, I had a Remington 700 that would not allow anything but a windage adjustable base because of misalignment between the the mount hole and the bore. That 's OK for a hunting rifle but not what I want on a target/competition rig. Mike: Yes, scope placement is crucial. I don't care to...

    Scope Frustation.

no scope checkers Since they do not seem to be readily available I'm going to skip the scope checkers. I'm also skipping locked up scopes and March not because I'm at all opposed, but because the majority of us will not be using them. The point of this whole thing all along is how to help...

    Scope Frustation.

Boyd: I was thinking about these same things this afternoon. I wondered how many people run their turrets this way and double check their scope at the start of each season. I seems to me that this is wise and that I should make it a habit to do so. It sure beats getting to the first match of...

    Scope Frustation.

Bob: Are you saying set it up on center first to check the scope then transfer to a long range base and set up again for long range?

    Scope Frustation.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Weaver I had the most trouble with (expect the one that took flight then crashed) that came off another rifle is in the scope not the mount. It will shoot OK if I do not try to adjust anything. If I make adjustment to elevation or wind it's anyone's guess...

    Scope Frustation.

Bob: Certainly this is correct. I would find it helpful to develop a list or protocol to maximize scope set up function test. spinning the erectors all the way in both directions and centering them is a good idea. sometimes the centering doesn't work. For example setting up a scope for long...

    Scope Frustation.

I hear you but If we can't depend upon a $1000.00 new Leupold Competition scope and we have to spend $2000.00+ for scopes to shoot I can tell you I'm done. There are not enough shooting options and its not important enough to me to spend that kind of money to shoot a half dozen matches a...

    Scope Frustation.

Scope Frustration: I thought it might be helpful to tell a tale of the frustrations of dealing with scope unreliability. Unfortunately I know others have had similar frustrations. Hopefully, some have suggestions to help decrease the frustration. A couple years ago my only VFS Benchrest rifle...

    6BR with 108 berger

I'll have to try the 8208. I worked a load with Varget two years ago when I built my gun. Quick easy fast accurate but a hot load. Maybe I can do as well or better with the 8208.

    Why not a 200-500 F-Class?

I think for short range it would be best to go the smallbore/miniplama route. Or change to benchrest group or score shooting. Trying to turn a midrange/longrange sport into something it is not really won't work. The equipment is totally wrong. Shooting smallbore at 100-200 yards will also...

    Why not a 200-500 F-Class?

As German states the NRA has targets set for mid range prone high power and F Class shooting at 300, 500, and 600 yards. I can assure you that at almost all if not every mid range prone match they will welcome anyone that wants to shoot shoot F Class. Only if the club doesn't have F Class...

    shooting between heartbeats

Among other things I shoot position smallbore. I am absolutely aware of my heartbeat. I definitely observe its effect on my point of aim on target and time my shot release appropriately. If the timing is off the shot is off. If you are not doing this you are not aware enough of how you are shooting.

    Lapua Brass

Here's an article you may find pertinent: http://riflemansjournal.blogspot.com/2010/01/cartridges-lapua-small-primer-308.html. In it German Salazar reports he still prefers Winchester large primer 308 brass to the Lapua small primer brass. German is one of the top long range shooters in this...

    Lapua Brass

This gets exactly to my point. I think too many people become fixated on things of lesser importance. In long range shooting with a 308 everything else must be equal before the brass is important. At 1000 yards lesser quality that is acceptable with a higher case capacity may be more...

It took a week or two to get a reply from Ernie Bishop when I emailed him for a counterweight last Fall. How long has it been?

    Lapua Brass

I like Lapua alot and use it myself but if you look you'll find that many of the winning long range shooters also use Winchester 308 brass. Here is a good article about John Whidden, his rifles, and his loads. http://www.6mmbr.com/gunweek059.html. As you can see he uses Winchester Brass. He...

A 52 FPS difference between a Win WSR primer and Rem 7 1/2 primer. (??)

I agree I would not use the CCI 400 and that is why I didn't list them. My records show WSR--> CCI400--> CCIBR4-->CCI#41 hottest to coldest BY CHRONO. I had way more primer problems with the WSRs (a fair number of pierced or blown) and CCI400s (a few blown) than with CCI#41 (or CCIBR4s)...

A 52 FPS difference between a Win WSR primer and Rem 7 1/2 primer. (??)

I agree with Gerry. I would save the WSRs for bolt guns. I find both WLRs and WSRs work well for ball powders. Here's a couple good resources for AR15 loading: http://www.whiteoakprecision.com/info-reloading.htm http://www.njhighpower.com/ You'll note that John Holliger (one of the top...
