    30BR and N-130

I realize this is a common statement but...EVERY, lot of powder that is different from the last, will shoot and chronograph with subtle differance from the last. Sorry to sound like Mr. Obvious. I learned my lesson one time about using old trusted loads on new bottles of powder and had smoke...

Any suggestions on what type of cleaner should be used in the coolant tank to break down and flush old sludge. I was told to use Joy dishwashing soap and hot water; I figure some of you guys have already done this, what do I use? Thanks, Mike

    Interest Rate and creditors

abintx, You are right, sorry bout the lack of a firearms reference. Might be a good time to Re-finance, save a few pennies and buy a firearm with those savings.

    Interest Rate and creditors

Not everything economic is doom and gloom. For what it might be worth, re-finance loans are very low. The 30 year is around 4.75 to 5% and the twenty, fifteen, and ten are better than that. Might be a good time to save a few pennies through Re-Fi. Mike

    ? about vintage BR

I was looking through some old text and it appears that many of the rifles were laminated wood stocks, barrel blocked, sleeved and generally very heavy in appearance. How did they make LV weight? Was there even an LV class back in the 60's and 70's. Mike

    pre boring reaming

How does depth of cut influence a pre set headstock and tailstock pointing twoard apron? .050 on the side vs .250 is a drastic change in pressure. I thought they were set to run parallel with bed.

    pre boring reaming

Jackie & Butch, I think, after much reading on this topic both here and over at 6BR.Com you guys are saying, correct me if wrong that: Removal of the bulk of material allows the pilot to become the frontal guide much later or deeper in the barrel; this situation encourages the reamer to start...

    pre boring reaming

Mickey, Thank you for the wax paper tip!! You know, its funny how a metal ring hung on a long shaft or a pipe clamp with a rubber strip tightened up on a boring bar will change harmonics and eliminate chatter. Sorta reminds us all how important the harmonic effect really is, especially with...

    pre boring reaming

Jay, True we are not talking about target rifle chambers, but we are talking metal working fundamentals. Much of the process is similar, the hydraulic ports and valve spool chambers still must be to an exact size, in an exact location and most importantly not be "egged". We used to run...

    cutting tool radius ??

Hal, and Jerry or Jackie feel free to jump in. The 431 nose will give a very smooth finish both in 4140 and stainless. On parts where we have a stated finish and it must be a good one, we use a 432 wiper either a w-3 or w-2. The wiper inserts work very well and we use wipers in TNMG, VNMG...
