    22-243 rifle twist

22/243 with 14 Twist I had a24 inch 14 nTwist 22 ppc with a few rounds on it, still in great shape. I re chambered the 22 PPC to a 22/243 AI using a reamer with zero freebore. Now shooting the 60g Sierra HP at 4000 fps into a bug hole. Carbon fouling is a serious issue with this cartridge...

HSS or Carbide for barrel threading

threading groove Threading groove will only hurt your pride a little. A more practical aspect of the groove will be if/when you sit back a barrel. You will then have a groove in the middle of your tenon, which will hurt your pride a little more. If your mind has troubled issues with threading...

    Sako 6ppc V133 question..

Sako 6 ppc I had two in the late 80's and a 22 ppc also. I shot H322 and a 68g berger. Today, if I was shooting that rifle, I would start out with a Sierra 70g blitz king with LT32, H322, or N133. Your rifle is worth a lot of money....you should think about that issue....others have brought...

NEW 1981 rem 700 adl in 222 rem

H335 in a 222 Berger sat some records with his 222 with H335, 7 1/2 with 52's. I shot out some barrels in this caliber back in the p. dog wars when everyone was converting their 222 40x's to 6PPC. My go to load was 19.5-20.2g of IMR 4198 with a 50g Sierra lead tip blitz, and the accuracy will...

Does anyone hate Remington riverted extractors as much as I do?

secondary projectiles those after market M16 and sako extractors become bullets when there is a case failure, I would not put one in unless it is the last resort. I have seen two occasions in my life where the addition of a Sako or M16 type of extractor would have spelled certain injury to...

    Cutting Oil

Cutting fluid I have been using a product called Tap Magic xtra thick, I urge you to do a search on line on this product. This product is made for very hard to machine steels and Inconel. This product is thick enough to stay on a tenon being turned at 300 RPM's when I cut with HSS tool. It...

What powder is easier on barrels

22/250 I bet that that he is hunting coyotes with this rifle....big difference between 3650 and 3800 as range increases to 400 yards....I hunted coyotes for years.

    Starting over with 6x284

Poor accuracy Change bullets immediately! I had a 6/284 that we hunted in N. Nevada with. I used IMR 4831 with the 85g Sierra in a 10 twist, very accurate, at 3600 fps. All we had back then was Win brass. 500 was as far as we ever shot, and that was rare.

How to provide the best cases for a .257 Roberts?

Forming brass I formed 6 Remington brass straight from 7x57 Lapua brass, gave the mouth a hard chamfer, lubed with Lee White sizing wax, eased the handle down on the Full Length sizer, perfect cases.

    600 Mowawk Thread?????

125-135g bullets my family has killed a lot of big deer with the 125g Sierra, 125g Nosler, and 135g Sierra Single shot pistol bullet in a 308. If you want to down load it, just look at 4895 reduced loads. A 308 loaded with win 748 with these bullet weights really shoots very tight...

    600 Mowawk Thread?????

Feeding issues with the BR I would opt for a round that is idiot proof on feeding since you are talking of live game. A std 243 with a 95g partition is a slam dunk deer slayer! If you use a custom barrel, the gun will shoot with all bullets touching. Lots of guys have been promised that...

It would be great to hear your cleaning regiment with the kG products, patching, brushing, etc. KG12 is so different than other products. Thanks

    6mm ai build

6 ai Better off to use a long action. I have hunted coyotes for a long time. You did not say what part of the world you are hunting in nor the hunting conditions. You can usually coax them in to a shorter range, but you have to be cammo'd to the max. With all the coyote hunting that I have...

Can a factory barrel be really clean?

Your bore must be pitted from rust. I have factory remington 700 barrels and they get clean very easily. I would suggest that you brush with JB, 25 strokes, then wet patch using short strokes for 10 patches. You should be down to bare metal. Normally, I use a Montana Extreme plastic brush...

    6BR loads for 100 yards

Gene Harwood(former NBRSA President) set a world record years ago with his own 60g bullets with H335 with a speed of 3700 fps. In my rifles, I am shooting the 55g Noslers at 3900+ with AA2230 with a Rem 7 1/2 primer, and this load out shoots the 68's at 300 yds hands down. Groups of 1" or less...

How important is bullet seating depth into the case?

with custom varmint rifles, AI chamberings where groups in the low 2's were the normal, bullets were always seated down in the case. The most accurate barrel I have ever owned was a 6 BRX, would shoot groups in the low 1's and zero's, bullets were seated below the shoulder neck junction. You...

How to provide the best cases for a .257 Roberts?

Charles E, you are dead nuts. I would first want to know why a guy would want the "best" brass for a 257 Roberts and what his application is. Getting the best brass and putting it is a sloppy chamber is like wearing a three piece suit and wearing tennis shoes with holes in the toes.
