    Sightron Siii 8-32 versus 10-50

I have shot the 36X Valdada for six years and it is superb. I have also shot the 12X-42X BR NF, the 15X-55X NF, the 42X NF, the March 10-60 , the 40X, the 50X and the Leupold 7X-42X, plus several more quality scopes. The Sightron 10X-50X may not be the "BEST" scope out there, but I believe that...

    8208 reclaimed powder

Yes, it was Lou Murdica's son. He found that the T-32 would float in the pool and when ignited put on a great show. :o James

    222 in a factory 700...modern powders ?

Your 8208 is good. If you can find any H335, give it a try. My p'dog hunting buddy got excellent accuracy and velocity with that powder in his .222. Good shooting and best of luck with your retina problem. James

    G. Aldridge dies in classified .......

There are words in the English language that can be either a verb or a noun. "Dies" is one such word and there are those who are not astute enough to realize the difference. If the way I stated that G. Alridge dies caught the attention of some who don't know the difference in a verb and a...

    G. Aldridge dies in classified .......

What is wrong with the "wording"? Richie Friebert was the owner of the dies and he passed away. His father -in-law, Don Geraci has offered them for sale. Don does not use the computer, so he got a friend to post the ad. This friend got George Ulrich's name wrong and I simply wanted to correct...

    New Look and Updated Website

Bart, the late Del Bishop answered questions about dimensions of his bullets with something like, " What do you WANT them to measure?" He would also claim that one out of every five was bad and it caused many shooters the 4 & 1 groups.

    G. Aldridge dies in classified .......

    G. Alridge bullet making dies in classified ....... The G.Alridge bullet making dies listed in the classified ads should be George Ulrich. They are from the estate of the late Richie Friebert (Don Geraci's son-in-law). They were used very little before Richie got sick. Thanks, James Mock

Am I correct that the attachment on this rifle would be short range CF legal?

Boyd, it is 73 degrees at the present and we have had good shooting weather so far this year. We have had two 600 yard matches so far this calendar year and we have a 300 yard match this Saturday. We have had quite a bit of rain, but that is not unusual for this part of the country. What...

Am I correct that the attachment on this rifle would be short range CF legal?

I don't know about the attachment, but the rifle in the picture is not legal. The forearm is too wide and it appears that the butt stock doesn't meet the taper rule. Good shooting. James

Using a gain twist in 600 yard competition?

I have used a Bartlein gain twist barrel (8.25-7.75) on my 6mm Dasher since 2010. It has in excess of 2000 rounds and still shoots well. I was wondering if anyone that shoots a Dasher has used a gain twist barrel, and if so, what has been your experience. I am thinking of a new barrel and don't...

    Other powders for the 6PPC??

As Wilbur stated, one had better watch the old GI 322. When it starts to deteriorate,..... well there have been many anecdotal instances of spontaneous combustion. The late Bucky Murdock had a bunch of it and I told him that he had better get rid of it because it had rusted everything around...

    Good news for Nightforce fans.

Joe, the new scope performed very well. The adjustments are spot on and the image was sharp and clear. I shot Sunday in some dim light and the 44 mm lens does not gather as much light as does the big 56 mm lens, but I believe that 44 mm along with the superb optics are adequate for all Benchrest...

    Good news for Nightforce fans.

I have not shot it in low light situations, but will shoot a 600 yd. match Saturday. I don't know why they chose 42X unless that is a good balance for the 44mm objective lens. The reason for the smaller objective is to save weight. With 42X and 44mm lens, the exit pupil will be greater than 1mm...

    Good news for Nightforce fans.

Mike, the optics are every bit as good as the 15-55X scope, but I have only shot 10 rounds after mounting it....so the point of aim stability has not been tested, but I will give it a try Sat. at our 600 match. The Valdada is just temporarily off the old BAT, especially since I have the NF for...

    Brady Knight has Passed away

Mickey and Brady often acted like they were trying out for an episode of Grumpy Old Men. I was helping Brady put up the moving backer at Rachel's Glen one year and we saw Mickey coming on his tractor. Brady moaned, "Oh no, here comes Mickey and nothing that we have done is right". Sure enough...

    Good news for Nightforce fans.

In the competition arena, NF has primarily made products for the long range crowd. Many of their higher power scopes weigh in excess of 2 pounds. That is okay for the competitions that have generous weight allowances but not for those with a 10# or 10.5" limit. Nightforce has now introduced a...

    Got Cabin Fever?

If you are tired of winter and waiting for the shooting matches to start, come to Dixie and shoot with us. We are having a 600 yard score match on February 20th and a 300 yd. score match on March 5th at the Prince Memorial range in Pioneer, LA. Pioneer is in extreme northeast Louisiana and...

    Other powders for the 6PPC??

Walt Berger gave one lot (of three) the name T-322. All three lots were really 8208 and he and Don Geraci chose the best lot for BR and Walt called it T 322 to distinguish it from the other two lots. He chose 322 because this powder had about the same burn rate as H322. When Hodgdon objected to...
