    Anybody re-cut a choke bore.............

If all you want to do is open up a choke take it to someone with a Sunnen Hone and have it honed out. .010" with a hone is no problem and the hone will self center in the bore. Another nice thing about the hone is you can sneak up on the size with no worry of chatter or going oversize. Dave

    8208 and sieves...

I agree with Charles. The size of the grain can determine the burn rate. I can see using the sieve to remove the foreign material, but I would not want to separate the grains by size

    Barrel Material

In the world of honing where I make my living we can have trouble with "pickup" on brass shoes when honing titanium. That is slow speeds with lots of high grade honing oil for lubrication. It would seem to me that a dry bullet with high barrel temperatures would be even worse. I can see a...

Removing Imperial Sizing Wax from cases

The micro fiber towels I use are cloth and can be washed and reused. I get them at Bed Bath and Beyond. For a while Shell was giving them away with 10 gal of gas. They look like a terry cloth rag

Removing Imperial Sizing Wax from cases

I will second that. Paper towels don't do a good job of removing the lub they just push it around. After you try the micro fiber towels you will be hooked.

    Simulating distortions when chambering?

All the engine manufactures use torque plates. The way car companies count pennies it has to make a difference for them to add another step to the manufacturing. On a engine when the bolts are tightened the pressure on the threads tries to spread the hole. The head bolts being next to the...

    Simulating distortions when chambering?

The only way we will know is if somebody has access to a Mitutoyo roundness tester, a Talyor Hobson "tally Round" or some other machine that can check the size, roundness, and cylindricity.

    Another ? on Windflags

I think Jackie has the best idea on daisy wheels. If you don't have equal friction or turning resistance on all of them they are of no use. The ones I have are plastic hubs and if you set them side my side in the wind you have each wheel turning at a different speed, and I found that to be...

    Tail stock dro

CNC lathe now I'm drooling. On a CNC you can plug in a number and let the computer do the stopping. Much more more reliable than the nut behind feed wheel LOL.

    Tail stock dro

Digital is nice, but when you are cranking dials and looking to stop on a predetermined number most people will find analog easier to follow.

    Hawkeye Borescope - recommendations?

I have a Hawkeye and it works great. Bruno has the best price and if you are going to use it with barreled action in the stock get the right angle eye piece. The only problem is you are going to see stuff in the barrel that will keep you awake at night, LOL.

    Need help with lathe spider

3/8 24 will be a Q drill and the 1/4 20 will be a #7 drill. To drill the adjusting holes on mine I set the spider on end and milled a small flat. Then turned it over and milled another small flat. At that point I had 2 flats 180 degrees from each other. Then I put it in the mill vice flat...
