New thread on hard to open bolt on Rem 700

The "web" is solid brass, I don`t believe any sizer works there. A small base die will take out the pressure ring just above it if you need reduction there. If the web is showing expansion and needs to be knocked down your load is wayyyyyy past OK......

    Old vs. New Powders

I believe the manuals such as Speer (Lyman and a couple others are also now showing both types of pressures) which are showing both CUP and Piezo pressure values are in fact moving to the piezo method, but haven`t reshot all their data. There is no good formula for converting one to the other so...

    Old vs. New Powders

Old surpluse 4831 was slightly slower then todays variety, Unique`s "new cleaner burning" version has been claimed by some to show a noticable differnce in speed also. I`ve heard powders change usually due to the seller (Hodgdon, Accurate, ect) farming the manufacture out to differnt companies...

    10 10 scale repair

I agree with RCBS not BS`ing about warrenting the scale. I have a 5-10 (RCBS marked, made by Ohaus) I found in a yard sale years ago in a box of reloading tools and bullets, and just tried it out last week. The beam wouldn`t zero so called to see what to do about repair. The Tech told me how to...

    Best carbon cleaner?

Did he apply it in conjuction with another solvent? I`ve heard one shouldn`t mix the foams with other cleaners. My experiance is they are great, and all I`ve used the last couple years.

    Best carbon cleaner?

I used to use "OX-Yoke Accuracy Restorer" with good results. The stuff would make your eyes water, nose burn, and throat go raw within 30 seconds of removing the lid, but it worked. I finally gave it up for JB or Rem Bore Cleaner. I didn`t care for the fumes and the abrasives were quicker, even...

    Bullet seating problem...

Yep, I had a RCBS die that a Nosler ballistic tip bottomed out in. I took a dremel tool and small bit and drilled the seating cup another 1/8" or so deeper. That fixed the problem. I don`t think the manufactures have a seater that will keep up with all the new bullet geometery we seeing today.

Is there anything currently in production that resembles the Wichita Mini?

Sorry I couldn`t help. The pistol is the Silhouette model, flat bolt ejection port, nice wood, ect. Real nice looking gun, and IMO priced accordingly:o. Good luck in your search..

This is the gun I want next

That video is from the accurate reloading web site. http://www.accuratereloading.com/ There are a lot of fun shooting related videos there along with a lot of other interesting shooting stuff.

Is there anything currently in production that resembles the Wichita Mini?

Are the Wichita single shot pistols the same action as you`re looking for? I stumbled on one chambered in 708 today if you are interested.

    Chronograph . . . Uses for

IMO the powder used makes a big difference in the short vs long barrel debate. Until you get to the super slow burners there often is very little to none difference in the velocity of some cartridges. I clocked these 7-08 Rem loads with a Pact M1 from a Remington M7/20" BBL and a M700/24" bbl...

    Best, most economical resizing lubricant

I didn`t think Hornady had been out that long. I still am on a tin of Imperial I started 2 or so years ago. The one before that seemed to go forever, notably longer then the RCBS & Lee lubes and pad I started reloading with.

Help removing scratches from stainless barrel

Here is how the owner of the Seecamp pistol company recommends their pistols be touched up. http://www.seecamp.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1136053866 It makes a difference in whether or not the barrel is high polish, matte, bead blast ect. Some you just have to redo.

    H414

Hodgdon extreem powders are all extruded powders manufactured by ADI of Austrailia. None of the "Extreem" line is ball. H414 is a ball powder made in St Marks and packaged by both Hodgdon as H414 and Winchester as WW760. They are the same powders just different lots, and are not "extreems"...

Small Mag Primers in a 223

The CCI 450 primer uses the same cup as the std CCI 400 small rifle. The difference is in the priming compound. Spper has a No.41 primer they developed specificly for the 5.56 cartridge with a Mil-Spec sensitivity level to prevent slam fires. They can, according to Speer, be sub`ed for the data...
