Tales from Texas

Wilbur

cook and bottle washer
Spent a very interesting day in Odessa! Gene and I wrung out the tuner to some extent with more shots necessary tomorrow to close the deal. I gave up the ghost and Gene went to the shop to cobble up some parts for a closer look at Bill Calfee's method. Tomorrow will be a big day for me.

Gene's tunnel is cool and I suppose so is Texas. Both Midland and Odessa have a Starbucks and Gene turned me on to a good cheesburger and some great mexican fare - I'm good.

Starbucks, Starbucks, I knew the NBRSA was paying you too much.

Did Gene bring the snakes???

Rumor has it that both Midland and Odessa will get indoor plumbing before this decade is out.
Texas is a rather varied place. You go from the urban "sprawl" armpit that is Houston, to the beautiful hill country between Austin and San Angelo, to the rather arid regions out West. There is something for everybody.
They say there are a lot of "ranches" out in West Texas. Gosh only knows what the cattle eat. And, if you notice, every one of those "ranches"have a bunch of those things going up and down, sucking some strange liquid from the depths of the Earth.
Let us know how the tunnel session goes. I trust what "real Benchrest Shooters" find out, and report on, more than someone who doesn't play the game.........jackie

Wilbur,
While you are there, why don't you teach Gene how to upload a picture file to a free hosting web site, and put a link in a post, so that he can show us pictures of what he is doing.

Jackie, are you telling us that they are going to skip the outhouse entirely?

No need

Mickey;
There was no need for an Out House. Nobody around but the Jack Rabbits and Cyotes.

Good Mexican food north of Austin!!!! I'd have to eat it to believe it.
Bob

Well, Bob, they(mexicans) certainly HAVE moved north of austin.

They did not forget how to cook when they headed north.

The most disturbing of all..

I got some stuff called "brisket". Actually, they called it "BBQ" brisket. I'm OK with the brisket but any reference therein to BBQ is just wrong. I'm willing to let it slide as I'm sure they just don't know any better.

I have a good friend who lives in Chiuaua state and visits sometimes who says we have some very good authentic Mexican food here in Nebraska.
I have no comparison but I think it's good too. As Edwin said they don't forget how to cook when they come North.
Of course my friend would be very upset if you called him Mexican, he says he's German so he might not know, he was born in Canada and speaks fluent (lower)German, Spanish and English.

Wilbur the Mexican BBQ is not the same as ours

Quote "I got some stuff called "brisket". Actually, they called it "BBQ" brisket. I'm OK with the brisket but any reference therein to BBQ is just wrong. I'm willing to let it slide as I'm sure they just don't know any better.:D"

The mexican baked meat is called "Barbacoa" is can be beef or goat..it is usually served with soft flour tortillas and some very "hot" sauce..and corn chips...it is usually served as a breakfast food..;)
They have some other meat products:confused:.."Trepas" it is actually intestines cut into small squares and cooked untill it has the consistancy of soft chitlins..
And the list goes on and on....Wow is anyone hungry..:D

anatomically speaking

Brisket is the part of the cow that rubs the fence.:) Best done in a marinade of EVOO and tequila.

Here in New England - -

We use Corned Brisket in what is called a New England Boiled Dinner. It is a piece of brisket boiled with Potatoes, onions, cabbage, potatoes turnip, parsnip and whatever other veggies one wants in it.

I am no lover of Mexican food! I do love good Southern Barbique. I do not like any corn based bread like objects interfeering with perfectly good food; anything that smells like old Sneakers or beans that are cold and mashed up. peppers that are toungue numbing or drinks that are way over citric.

Considering that all the mexicans that are this far north of the border insisting on flying the Mexican flag in the rear winders of they Pickupa an sech, I think all good Americans should boycot Mexican food.

That's my story and I am stiking to it.

Sounds like a disgruntled hater..............................must be a bitter Patriots fan!

Hey Wilbur

Wilbur while I enjoy reading about food on the worlds leading accuracy forum maybe you can start a new thread and tell us what you have observed about both tuner designs?
