PSL Registration

I hope that all realize what Dan is doing for the future of this sport and he has pledged not to compete.

Now, If I could just borrow Dawn's rifle...

Prediction;

Monster railguns, over a period of time, will come to dominate this league.

Shoulder stocked rifle owners are going to be asking for changes due to the unfairness of this, with their big money investments, and will be clamoring for rules changes.

Bill Meyer and other railgunners, eventually, are going to be cashing alot of checks.

Monster railguns, in a very short period of time, will come to dominate this league.

Shoulder stocked rifle owners are going to be left squilling like pigs at the unfairness of this, with their big money investments, and will be clamoring for rules changes.

Bill Meyer and other railgunners are going to be laughing all the way to the bank!

A rail gun will not win a PSL match this year.

Frankly I don't see a rail gun being any more competetive than a great rifle in a one piece rest.

You will, now that there is an economic incentive to put the extra time and money into the more expensive railgun systems.............Don

Dan,
I plan on attending the Rocky River match if all goes to plan, and will bring along a friend if he's well enough to travel by then. Thanks for the effort you've put forth to put these matches together.

Don, Though it continues to get better, I believe the ammo is still the weakest link.

Charlie

So what's gonna happen in the rail gun arena that's gonna make them so terribly awesome?

Stability, accuracy, and speed.

With the money involved, over time, expect to see Young, Hasscutter, Powell, and other railguns, switched from centerfire to rimfire.

Expect to see pre-indexed windage/elevation aiming mechanisms that will allow for aim/firing rates of close to one second per target square.

Like in centerfire, the biggest problem will be to learn when to stop shooting fast enough for condition changes.............Don

In the barn it will be who's the luckiest.Anyplace else it will be who can read the wind flags, rail gun or a stocked gun.Jerry

Charlie, you are correct that ammo is the weakest link, but, the switch to the railgun system is the biggest area for score improvement that can be controlled by the individual competitor...............Don

Almost any benchrest 22 rifle becomes a rail gun when used in a James Pappas Rest. :)

Good ammo and a shooter who reads the wind well is the major difference.

Jerry,

so far we have 40 registered, but more are coming in each day. That was the count monday. I am on my way to the Shot Show and I do not know what has come in since then.

Don

I agree if we were shooting group, but not shooting score in Rimfire. It still boils down to Gun, ammo and how well one reads the wind. The indoor events present another can of Monkeys. Ghosts of Chickens Past!

I am fairly new to this sport and have much to learn but if this psl league is after the best shooter why dont they just pass out the exact same ammo to all the shooters(just add the cost into the registration fee) and take the ammo factor out of the equation then it will fall down to the best gun and shooter. If they did that then it would stop the run on eley ammo which I believe is happening because folks believe they can get an advantage with the ammo to win a lot of money(I may be wrong).

PSL or not, there is always a rush for ammo in the spring. Although some ammo is better than others, it is finding a good match to your barrel that is the hard part. If you find something that works, you better jump on it. Without it, all the money invested in the rest of the equipment is wasted.

It is hard to believe there are just that many more people who are jumping on a match to their barrel in this run on eley tenex when even the folks selling it are astonished at the fact it sold out over the weekend this past weekend.Like I said i may be wrong.

Mike,

After shooting this a while, you'll see why this won't work. Different barrels, different chambers. There is no universal lot or brand that shoots the best out of all rifles.

Get a year of BR shooting under your belt and more of this will make sense.

Yes, you are wrong.
