    Wind probe material?

Sailtails! Ok that will help me in my research for the material they use, thanks.

    Wind probe material?

I'm not sure if probe is the right word. Right now I have a ribbon for the tail on my wind flags and I'm looking to make a solid tail/probe. I know it would have to be light but strong enough to keep it's shape. What type of material should I use to make that type of tail? Thanks, Ed.

Place reticle, pull trigger while looking at flags?

Thanks all. Knowing it's called 'Head Up' I was able to find it on youtube and it is a 'free recoil' setup. Now I can look into 'free recoil' rests. Any recommendations if I want to use 'head up' shooting? I'm shooting an air gun so there isn't much recoil.

Place reticle, pull trigger while looking at flags?

I saw a video once of a benchrest shooter in Finland I believe with a different shooting technique. He aligned the rifle through the scope on the target and held it firmly in place. He then watched the flags with his head up and when the flags where in a certain position he pulled the trigger...

    One flag distance?

That makes sense and I've noticed the same peculiar flag activity with the nearest flag. So just far enough from the building to be free of it's interference would be good, say 30 yards?

    One flag distance?

When shooting 100 yards I see people often use 3 wind flags. If you could only use 1 flag at what distance would you place it. We know that any wind drift on a pellet at close range will compound into a greater change in POI than a wind farther down range. However a more mid range flag...

    Wind socks?

Thanks Landy. I read those articles and picked up a few things I didn't know. I also need to learn how to use the flags to hold over properly. The way I did it at the EBR, using others' flags, was to find the best holdover on the sighters that worked with common wind patterns on the flags. I...

    Wind socks?

Damn I was afraid of that. That means either my old brain is too slow or maybe my technique is wrong. Are you guys saying one eye is looking through the scope while the other is looking at and analysing 2-4 fast twirling flags? Yikes! Are there any good threads you all can recommend on flag and...

    Wind socks?

Has anyone tried using wind socks for bench rest shooting? I've made light weight wind flags/vanes and they're too fast moving for my liking. Ed.

.25" LW polygonal slow twist barrel

Hey AZ, Yea it was a FX love fest. I talked to few owners of Daystate and RAW and they pretty much stuck with the standard LW 17.7" TR barrels that came with these expensive rifles. I have my LW barrel equipped with a carbon fiber sleeve and a Hatsan air stripper. The stripper needs meticulous...

    Extreme Benchrest 2017

AZ, we as competitors want fairness because we may get the short end of the stick. The organizers of events like EBR are financially motivated as you mentioned earlier. There is no one that can tell them the way they must operate when they see it as their event for the sole purpose of...

    Extreme Benchrest 2017

Hi AZ, They said the lanes for qualifying were picked randomly and I believe them as pro and sportsman class were evenly scattered. The wind was from about 1-3 o'clock and mild on both qualifying days. I was in lane 38/40 close to the right side berm and shoot 221 and 230/250 for the second...

    Extreme Benchrest 2017

I'm back from the event and was happy to place fourth in the sportsman class finals with my lowly AAs510 mod in a sea of FXs. Ed.

What's the BC of .177 JSB 13.43 pellet.

According to Chairgun Pro the BC is 0.025 but from my experience and graphing it's ballistic curve from actual shooting it's more like 0.028.

.25" LW polygonal slow twist barrel

Hey everyone I'm new here and love this site. I'm exited that I'm leaving for the EBR in two days but it will be my first BR competition so I have no idea how I'll do. I have seriously retuned my .25" AAs510 (where's the glory in shooting an FX like everyone else) to a regulated 900fps shooter...
