Not sure what that has to do with F-class, much less a 13yr old thread...

Eric Cortina best 5 shot group at 1,000

Pretty sure I'd put my money on Erik in an F-class match against you any day of the week... ;)

Are 20 shots in 22 minutes to much in F Class

Most likely the CoF is more like 22 rounds in 22 minutes - 2 sighters + 20 record shots. That's a pretty standard string for mid-range F-class. As mentioned above, the rules generally call for 1 minute per record round for mid-range, and 1.5 minutes per record round at long range. It varies a...

    Front rest ear tension

Just remember that the gun has to lift free (straight up) from the front rest without hanging up on the bag, or else you get to add that front rest to the rifle weight. Odds are that you will be over the weight limit if that happens.

What is the appeal of F Class?

This varies somewhat because of distances available, what country you're in, and then the local 'flavor'. Highpower Rifle (and by extension, F-class) matches can be held at ranges varying from 300 yds on out to 1000yds, in general practice. Technically there are some HP matches at even shorter...

What is the appeal of F Class?

Essentially, yes. The gun still needs to be fairly accurate, but after a certain point, having a gun that shoots 0.2 instead of 0.3 becomes a moot point. Taking that 0.3 gun and going out and practicing in different conditions will do way more for your score agg than shaving that extra 0.1 off...

    Flat base bullets a disadvantage @ 300yds?

Depends how much it blows where you shoot at. In theory, the 52 FB should still be able to chew up the X-ring @ 300yds. In practice... if you miss a wind call by even a little, its not gonna be pretty. The good news is that many 300yd ranges are pretty well protected. Go out and give it a try!

F class at Ben Avery this weekend..anyone there to report results?

Probably better off to just go to another forum that has actual active discussion on F-class related subjects... like accurateshooter.com.... if you want reasonably up-to-date scores and reports.

    Ultimate FTR Rig

If its just bedding, I'd say Greg Swezey of Gold Creek Rifles. If you need a complete stock job, talk to Ray Bowman of Precision Rifle & Tool, or Alex Sitman of MasterClass Stocks. Both of the latter have experience with adjustable buttplates, adjustable cheekpieces, etc. BR gunsmiths are not...

    Ultimate FTR Rig

As compared to the arbitrary rules for say, so-called "Hunter" Benchrest, with a maximum of 6x scopes, or the single-shot actions with filler blocks? Or some of the tricked-out Service Rifle AR-15s, with free-float handguards, lead weights in every available free space, pinned rear sights...

    Ultimate FTR Rig

The X-ring on the sling target becomes the 10 ring on the F-class target, and the new X-ring is 1/2 the diameter (only 1/4 the area!). Shooting sling is definitely more physically demanding - training one's self to be that still while strapped into a heavy coat and slung up is harder than it...

    Ultimate FTR Rig

No doubt Nez will have a very short learning curve... but I've shot with a few well-known high-level sling shooters (both Service and Palma) in my time, and every single one that tried F-class found they had to read the wind a lot tighter than they had before. A few considered it good...

    New to F Class T/R

Since the CenterShot bipod is no longer available, I'd say take a look at the Duplin bipod from Sinclair Int'l. Same basic design, with some improvements. If money wasn't an issue, I'd say get the Phoenix bipod, and have John @ Pierce Engineering do his mods to it. The Phoenix is fairly...

    F-Class Equipment? Where to Shoot?

Actually, outside of certain clubs they're not all that common. That format is not covered by the NRA, so the scores wouldn't count towards anything. Technically you can get a medical waiver from a doctor and submit it to the NRA, but that's the only legit way. I've never seen or heard of any...

    F-Class Equipment? Where to Shoot?

For NRA type matches, the WSRPA is the sanctioning body and keeps a state-wide schedule of events... smallbore, pistol, sling, F-class, etc. http://www.wsrpa.net/wsrpa/highpower Used to be that Machias (near Lake Stevens) was the place to go on the we(s)t side... 500yd range, covered firing...

    F-Class Equipment? Where to Shoot?

If you're in the Seattle area, check out the Whatcom County range up near Bellingham. They have the Washington State Rifle & Pistol Association (WSRPA) state 300yd championship there every spring. I haven't kept track lately, but there have been a few national records set there. It is a...

    BIB slugs for F class

Hello Charlie, Typically for F-class most of the top shooters that I know of are using Berger bullets. Currently the 185 gn Juggernaut and the 200 gn Hybrid are what you see in the top 10 at major matches in the USA for F/TR. There aren't many people running. 300 Magnums of any flavor in...
