I think the round hanging up as it feeds into the chamber causing you to pull the bolt back slightly is caused by the ejector being a wee bit long and the rim of the case is catching on the ejector. I had this problem with my Bat B..........Ian

The machine dealer I bought my lathe from told me about several lathes that had had the cabinet filled with concrete, said the mass improved the performance of all the lathes........just make sure it's in the right place before filling the cabinet, especially on some of the bigger lathes. Lee...

Since I shoot short range BR I'm not sure what type of presses are used by the competitors loading for FTR, so while the Hood press may work I would talk to people shooting and loading for FTR and find out what works and what doesn't that way you can buy equipment suitable for loading for FTR...

So if this is the response from the shooters about registering the matches with IBS or NBRSA, how would changing anything in IBS or NBRSA convince those shooters to register the matches?? Why do they NOT want to shoot in registered matches?? Ian

Mike I've never seen a bolt action BR shooter eject cases further than the top of the bench. I shoot rimfire BR and a few years ago used a BSA Martini MkII, these rifles eject cases quite well and boy did I get a few comments when I let my cases get away from the top of the bench. I learnt that...

Mike you have pointed out that you used to be a member of IBS and you have mentioned about the location and format of the meeting.........while your club has a waiting list to join (which I can understand due to shooters wanting somewhere to shoot and clubs limiting membership) IBS and NBRSA...

These answers are perplexing........since the idea and start of this thread is to grow "IBS" how do you propose to do this as the way I read your posts is a reason NOT to join any association or shoot any registered matches.........what would it take for you both to join IBS and attend...

Hope you enjoyed your first year of Benchrest and hope there are many more to come. While this has been discussed here before you most likely weren't around for the discussions.........but rest assured from what I can gather IBS and NBRSA becoming one aint going to happen. But I have to agree...

Imagine the media attention when some of the competitors failed a drugs test........would be a lot of bad publicity about shooters then. This could even happen at a WBC event due to some of the countries who participate in Benchrest being governed by Olympic governing bodies...........Ian

Dan I did this to a Teddy only mine is left bolt right port and left eject..........I just bought another bolt but have often wondered if the extractor could be installed in the opposite bolt lug and plunger ejector installed, after all this wouldn't weaken the bolt.........Ian

Vern I can understand what you are saying but I'm still mystified why people want their rifle to weigh 10 1/2 lb or that close to it that it my be DQ'd if the scales are out............if I ever got DQ'd because my rifle was overweight there wouldn't be any other competitors either..........my...

Now I've had conversations with a lot of Hunters who say their rifles shoot 1/4 MOA or better in the wind and all the way out to 1000yds...........they never show up at a competition to prove it though. Saying that I have a couple Coopers that will shoot 1/4" 5 shot groups, not all the time...

Lol Francis I love that...........only problem here in NZ if you know the vehicle has a fault when you sell/trade it and don't make the purchaser aware of it they can hold you liable for the repair. BTW a 2004 Ford Explorer still sells for around $12 - $20k here in NZ
