Locking Lugs Falling Off Of Farley Actions!!

At least the lugs weren’t flying out the side of an exposed bolt head micro-port ejection system. Why they are allowed I have no idea?

    Tuners at the Super Shoot?

Thanks Jackie, I knew that. I was just offering my view on what “I work at it” may have been referring to. Couldn’t see the reason for all the fuss. Jim

    Tuners at the Super Shoot?

Hal, It has been stated on this forum several times that tuners will reduce or completely eliminate the need to tune in the traditional (hard) way.

NOAA weather for the big shoots

You’re welcome Cale. That site keeps telling me I need a shooting tunnel and a wind generator. :D http://www.usairnet.com/cgi-bin/launch/code.cgi?Submit=Go&sta=KDNS&model=avn&state=IA It doesn’t look like you have it much better this weekend. Jim

NOAA weather for the big shoots

This is my favorite weather forecast site. Everything at a glance if there's an airport in the area. http://www.usairnet.com/cgi-bin/launch/code.cgi?Submit=Go&sta=KCAK&state=OH Jim

Tuning Problems,When It Just Won't Work.

You guys should take up flying small lightweight R/C airplanes for a few years. You’ll quickly find that that there’s nothing unexplained out there.

Brass Brands vs. Accuracy - Article

We should all count our lucky stars that Remington came out on top in this test. Think about it. Do we want deer hunters and mall ninjas hording our BR capable brass? Remington rules, long live Remington! Spread the word. ;)

That’s a shame Jim, better luck next time…. Lol  :D IMO, the only thing uglier than a tuner is a tuner profile barrel they're screwed/glued/clamped to, put them on a savage action and you have the “whole pie”… But you just caught my full attention with this comment and I may end up...

Changing the name to “Benchrest for Score” is a good idea and would be the most logical option so the VFS rules could remain the as they are. But I do believe “varmint” was very much the intent in group at least, and the tradition (chasing traditional BR goals with a killer varmint rifle) drew...

    .338br

You did Randy and I agree, that’s why I said “defective from the start” in my post. :) I told my smith “that’s just silly” and needs to be fixed back in ‘95 when the 6 was recommended over the 22ppc for my first BR rig because of (among other things) the VFS rule. My opinion has been consistent...

VFS isn’t my cup of tea but I do see the fun and challenge. But if the VFS rules weren’t defective from the start, all calibers would be competing on an even playing field and nothing would need to be “saved”. The air rifle forum guys figured this out after the first match and fixed the problem...

That probably explains why so many Jack Daniels experts drink directly from the bottle. They cant hit the shot glass because of the threaded neck. :D

    Priming tools and practices

Yea, what Bryce (BJS6) said. I pulled a barrel after a match in ‘97 and stored it with eight (Sinclair priming tool) loaded rounds left over from the match. Screwed the barrel on a different panda last summer and the 10-year-old ammo piled into a .180. If touching primers is a problem, its not...

    220 Swift vs 22-250 rem

Both barrels will eventually wear out. The 22-250‘s .308 boltface gives lots of great options when that day comes. With a factory chamber and factory dies, the swift will most likely stretch/ring/destroy more brass wearing out its barrel.

    42 yards, Calfee

I believe he’s just offering the conveyor belt to anyone who would like to continue trying. Personally, I’m in a holding pattern patiently waiting for a wider runway to land on.

    Shooting groups vs 25 targets?

Probably not much bigger than some of the groups I shot in my last match, lol! :D That post may get me in trouble but I hope some people take the challenge because it would be fun and quite a learning experience. Something Bob Dodd said to me years ago really stuck in my head and I remember it...

    Shooting groups vs 25 targets?

Competition group shooting requires precision and accuracy. The biggest difference between registered group competition and shooting a good group (in the middle of a bunch of bad ones) on your home range is that registered matches shoot “aggs” not a couple of cherry-picked groups. This is why...

Anxious for clear weather to try Beggs Tuner

I don’t think its just a velocity thing, its been forever since I’ve done a ladder test @200 but from memory the bullets tended to climb dramatically between the in-tune clumps, they also had some side to side movement depending on the velocity node. So if your tune is on the upper or lower edge...
