couple of questions for the seasoned benchrest reloaders

If you are wrecking cases, it isn't because you aren't resizing the whole case, it is due to excessive pressure. Period. The only question is where the excess pressure is coming from. As stated, it ain't coming from incomplete resizing. Can't. The first thing to check is always too much...

couple of questions for the seasoned benchrest reloaders

There is a WORLD of difference between removing carbon build up in the bore proper and removing a hard-carbon-and-copper ring from the throat.

Poor boy needs advice on Savage choices

Joe, It depends on what kind of match you're going to shoot in. For example, even in "short-range score shooting" what works in one class/format won't necessarily work in another. If you don't know what you're going to do, I'd try to find a used benchrest rifle with a bolt face that will...

Viper DP and glue in questions.

LT-32 has the perfect fill capacity for the 30 Major and 220 Beggs. With the 30 Major, you have to use a long tube funnel and at least something of a trickle. Just dumping it in won't get you there. I've seen data on using it in a 30 BR, but have not done it myself.

    30PPC / 30BR / 222 versus the 6PPC

I'm more interested in seeing what comes out of the new NBRSA sporter rules. I kind of which that they read "Must weigh 10.5 lbs and be 308 Winchester or less...other than that, run what you brung" ;).

22 ppc load data LT 32

This is old, but just wanted to add some "quick start" info. I'm shooting a 220 Beggs. Lapua brass. 53 grain bullets. 205M primers. I'm finding my best with light neck tension, jammed a hair into the lands. From what I gather, this will work with a 22 PPC short as well. These are at 66...

    Any scope ideas ?

If you go here http://www.international-benchrest.com/ and look under "Results/Rankings", you can get to match reports in different disciplines. In them, you'll see scores and equipment lists. It's not hard from there to correlate the top shooters with their equipment and see what bubbles to...

    New to sport...HELP

Here are three ideas: 1. A used benchrest rifle in 6 BR chambered with a no-turn neck. 2. A Light Varmint / Sporter rifles in 6 PPC or similar chambered such that neck turning is required. 3. A factory varmint/target rifle. The issue with #1 is the lack of availability. You don't see...

    More about LT-32

It is *the* powder in my new 220 Beggs. Works for my 30 Major, too. Awesome stuff!

Fluting a HV barrel to make LV weight

"mks", Keith Sharp, is a sharp cookie, if you'll pardon the pun. We had an email discussion about this recently. The bottom line is as stiff as possible in the horizontal plane and less stiff in the vertical.

    Buck Creek IBS night shoot

I've never done a deer, but lots of rabbits in the turnip patch when I was a kid. Had an old Marlin beginner's prone rifle that'd I'd mounted a 2-6x Weaver on. We'd pop them in the head...BBQ rabbit is pretty good eating.

    Buck Creek IBS night shoot

Well, that's not too far from a 1,000,000 candle Q-Beam from the hay loft ;) I'd feel right at home, particularly if it was a little drizzly.

    Buck Creek IBS night shoot

How are you illuminating? I know from experience how I'd do it, but jacklighting targets in the turnip patch might get us in trouble ;)

    Tumbling

Keyholing and bullets all over the paper at 50 yards with a twist faster than is needed to stabilize that bullet... are you're sure you're not trying to shoot them out of a 6.5mm barrel? Something is really off here. Crown is badly damaged or something.

Benchmark and LT-32 Velocity Map in 220 Beggs

Here is one-half of a velocity map for Benchmark and LT-32 in my 220 Beggs. Probably very close for the 22-100. You might have to blow it up some to see it. If anyone wants the raw Excel file, just PM me. It shows velocity for 4 loads at 0.3 grain increments at competitive velocities. I did...
