The IMR 4198 that I have is considerably less dense than my H4198. I'm using it for my 30 Major AR where I want 28.5 grains to fill the case.

I haven't shot H4227 in the 30 Major. Mike tried it. Said the same thing other folks say about it. It's great till it blows up in your face and stay away from it. You can definitely get enough N120 in the case to shoot primer pockets loose. Also, it can be hard to get. OTOH, it's meters...

VV N-120 is the magic pixie dust. H-4198 and LT-32 are very good. You have to work to get enough in. Mike has used a couple of other powders that show promise. I have a lot of Reloader 7 that is awesome. Others are not dense enough. 2950 to just under 3000 is where you want to be.

    anyone shoot the 30 buckys?

Don't know. That rifle is a 30 Stewart which is a modified 30 PPC. They can get enough H4198 in it to get 2980 fps.

If you don't like XBR in the 6 PPC, find someone with a 6 BR to sell it to. I have a 10 twist straight 6 BR that I shoot in varmint matches. XBR is far and away my favorite powder in it. Some folks are even shooting it in a Dasher with the 104-108 gr bullets.

Ralph Stewart, Mike Stennett and those guys make the 30 Stewart by pushing back the shoulder on 6.5 Grendel brass.

I believe that you're referring to the Gun Free School Zones act of 1990. It was overturned as unconstitutional in 1995.

Weed may be legal in WA, but it's not legal for youth. No analogy is perfect, but think of it like a liquor store. Not many community centers have them. There are also often regs about having them within some distance of a school, playground, etc. where kids congregate.

.30BR and the 115 grain Berger

Stool: you will not be embarrassed by the 110 Bergers till you try to find a new stock of them.

I really, really like XBR in a 6BR with mid-weight bullets. It really shines. In the 220 Beggs, I like LT-32, Benchmark and N-133. Take it for what it's worth, Greg J.

Perhaps it is worth having someone touch up the chamber with a 30x47 Lapua reamer.

    LV HV competition question

Again, that answer is specific to IBS or NBRSA group. That's what Tim wants to shoot, just don't want someone else to read only parts of the thread and find themselves in the inverse problem...having built a LV 30 BR or similar to shoot in UBR or IBS or NBRSA Varmint For Score.

Just build another one, Tim, for LV. No sweat.

    LV HV competition question

It also depends on what format you are shooting in. If you are shooting NBRSA and/or IBS group shooting, the LV is the way to go. NBRSA and/or IBS Varmint for score and UBR, a 13.5 lb rifle is the way to go. Your 13.5 lb 220 Beggs is perfect for UBR. Matches near you include Jonesville, VA...

    Neck/Shoulder Sizing

That's a nice little group. Keep it up. Check out this site: http://www.tripledeuce.net/ . Barrel, Bullet, Bedding is the old saw. If you aren't using great bullets, try some custom 22 bullets. You might check into getting it pillar bedded, if it isn't already. Best regards, Greg Jennings

    Neck/Shoulder Sizing

No. When we turn necks, at least most of us, are turning necks are doing it in custom chambered, tight-necked barrels. I.e., the reamer is set up to cut a chamber that allows us to turn necks down, generally for uniformity, without getting slopping case-neck to chamber-neck fit. So, if you...
