    Universal case forming dies

Does anybody know of anyone that currently makes a universal case forming die with the progressively smaller bushings like the Skip Otto or John Bunch sets?

    thread mic??

Al, I would have to agree as I've used some cheap stuff that works but I like the fit and feel of good tools. I'll second Thread Pal. Also if you don't have a copy of Machinery's Handbook get one. They are available used all the time.

    thread mic??

Thread micrometers will read the pitch diameter. As MilG said you will need a 1-2" with a set of anvils for threading tenons. Be ready to spend a few $$$. Mitutoyo are great but very expensive, SPI not bad and I've used both. Mitutoyo w/anvils...

Mac McMillians' LV .009 World Record Is Under Assualt

Butch I remember years ago someone giving reasons as to how the .009" record could not be broken due the way the measurment rules were written. I can't remember the reasons given nor did I ever follow up and actually read the rules at the time. The way I read the current rules is if the new...

Duracoat color match for Rem 700 stainless??

The C series Cerakote (listed as High Temp Firearms Coatings) is air cure and many of the air cure have near the durability of the H series. If you look up the individual sheets on the respective colors you will find the durability test numbers. C series Cerakote is about as easy as it gets...

Duracoat color match for Rem 700 stainless??

Not sure what you're trying to say. Are you saying Cerakote is hard to work with so you don't want to use it and Duracoat is so easy you are fixed on it? I've never sprayed Duracoat but have used a fair amount of Cerakote and find it's easy enough to use. I was just pointing out that Cerakote...

    neck turning a 6 dasher

A few choices here: http://www.6mmbr.com/6improvedform.html I've used method 3 on a 6 BS which is very similar to a Dasher. Method 3 is also a little tricky to get set up but works well if done right.

Duracoat color match for Rem 700 stainless??

Cerakote has stainless finishes in both air cure and heat cure. I haven't used any of the stainless colors from them but maybe they have what you want. Cerakote also tends to be much more durable than Duracoat.

anyone harden PTG dies in kiln?

Never heard anyone refer to 4140 as a tool steel let alone an air hardening tool steel. Not saying it won't work. What I've seen of hardened 4140 was oil quenched. Air hardening tool steels I've been around and used are the A, S and D types. I've made a few dies of another sort (planishing and...

    Devcon steel or titanium

The compressive strength is much higher than the steel (maybe double) but it is also harder to work with. If I remember correctly all strength properties of the titanium is higher than the steel. Even though they are both putty the titanium is a thicker viscosity and I think about half the pot...

    300 WSM Build Questions

I can't answer that as my only experience is with 7mm SAUM and 7mm WSM with the heaviest being Berger 180 Hybrids. The 7mm Hybrids are really long hence many going the LA route. Search some of the tactical forums. Many guys are using LA w/AI mags with 300 WSM, 7 WSM and 7/300WSM.

    300 WSM Build Questions

A WSM in a Rem magnum LA is not a problem. They will usually feed with no work to the feed rails/mag and if it won't it doesn't take much to make it feed. If you are going to run an Eliseo chassis w/AI mags then the same applies. Many have sucessfully been down this path for the exact reasons...
