Extraction problems 6/284... Finally found out what was the problem @#%&*&%#@ !!!!

. If by this you mean there is a bulge on the case body wall near the shoulder junction then you are onto a possible cause for extraction problems, and the appropriate fix would be a re-cut of the chamber and at the proper depth.

Extraction problems 6/284... Finally found out what was the problem @#%&*&%#@ !!!!

. How does a short chamber cause extraction problems?

    A Chet Amick Rifle

Wasn't there a heated argument in the past with the Amick estate about the proprietary configuration of these rifles, and the estate did not wish to release Chets accuracy secrets? After those discussions I am surprised an Amick rifle made it out of the family collection...........Don

    Barrel Slugging Lead

Cut open a couple jackets of the various copper jacketed bullets that you will be shooting, remove the lead cores, bump them up to the desired diameter and use them for your slugging..........Don

Has anyone experimented with the angled transition between chamber neck and freebore?

Maybe, I have never been able to figure out why firecracking is usually most prominent inches down the barrel from the chamber, you would think the bore would see equal pressures and temperatures, through out, at peak combustion pressure and therefore even firecracking through out, but that does...

Beware of Cheap Grizzly Boring Bars!

Guess I would have to see what the setup looks like before further commenting. I know sometimes I have to angle or set certain boring bars/inserts high in order to avoid clearance problems.

Beware of Cheap Grizzly Boring Bars!

. Isn't that what 5 minutes of die grinding work is for?

Has anyone experimented with the angled transition between chamber neck and freebore?

. Ive only used the traditional 45 degree angle, but I have borescoped the transition of hundreds of barrels over thousands of rounds and what I have noticed is the transition area will pick up noticable carbon fouling but no copper fouling or firecrack erosion...............Don

will this pump work/ flush system

. Jerry has the design of the pressurized container flush system correct, in order to keep pressures continuous and constant just plumb and keep open a pressurized line to your compressor system so that the container is constantly fed during chamber cutting operations or add a pressure feed...

will this pump work/ flush system

Easiest and best way to go flush system is to use existing compressor system to pressurize a fluid container, plumb container to barrel, no need to buy extra motors, pumps, regulators, plumbing, electrics etc.

will this pump work/ flush system

Depends upon your flushing system, fluid type, pressure requirements..........I am sure it could move enough cutting fluid past a reamer to lubricated it and flush the chamber, but there are much better setups to do this job. I noticed that it was previously used as a pool system pump, you will...

Bart's 30 caliber bullets test Results

Hi Bart, just curious, what is the optimal depth for a "shooting ditch", how do you keep the ditch/basement from flooding during heavy rains?.............Don

Made a Hardened Sizing Mandrel for my K&M Expandiron holder

I usually put the pin gauges in a lathe drill chuck tailstock and case/case holder in lathe spindle chuck, size by running tailstock to the spindle chuck. Not sure that you need to even harden expander, you could probably size hundreds of thousands of brass necks on a steel mandrel before ever...

Made a Hardened Sizing Mandrel for my K&M Expandiron holder

. That should work, alot of effort though, I just use a standard hardened pin gauge kit in .001" increments to size necks to whatever preference.

    Bullet/case run out Whats acceptable?

Make a variable seater base that will push the case further up into the tapered Wilson seater die and therefore remove the die to case slop, or remove some material from the Wilson seater bottom, if you have a lathe, and this will accomplish the same thing.

    Barrel attachment and accuracy

Guys with barrel block railguns have experimented with differing barrel positions, as you have illustrated, and found no improvement over the traditional position of the barrel furthest forward.

    tuning by group shape

You have bigger problems than powder charge tuning................look at the impact differences between sighter and record targets, until you fix this impact difference between the 2 targets you will never be competitive no matter how well you tune the powder charge, something is most likely...

    Poor reamed hole finish

Increase the feed rate not the speed rate until you get a continuous chip instead of grainulour grind, you may need to re-bore or drill the chamber area if the chamber is already work hardened from your previous cuts.
  20. D

    Poor reamed hole finish

Yes, some barrels with a higher chromium content require a much higher feed rate in order to cut instead of grind out the barrel material. Review the cutting procedures for Walther barrels in order to prevent work hardening and poor chamber finishes.
