Anybody shooting heavey bullets in a fast twist Swift?

Holy smoke - like how up there? I was getting lose primer pockets taking the 80 SMK to 3500 fps in winny brass. Never have been back to it now that Lapua 22-250 is available. Plan for the future.

Anybody shooting heavey bullets in a fast twist Swift?

I have a 1:8 twist pacnor 28" chambered in a 22-250 AI. It is pretty darn close to a Swift capacity wise. I shoot 75-80s mainly with excellent results. However the 69 SMK fly pretty good at 3600 fps. Lots of potential. However, in my mind a Swift must shoot a 52 grain bullet. The was my...

    Modeling clay for bedding

What type of "modeling clay" do you use to fill in the voids while bedding? Are talking play-dough or something more application specific? Thanks, Tim

Lapua 308W reg vs. Palma brass???

My standard load has been with Lapua brass, RE-15, Fed 210M primers, and 175 SMK. I run warn, but not as hot as many. I will probably start doing playing with the Berger hybrids when it warms up. Thanks for your input John. I will probably just stick with my standard brass, which Cabelas has...

Lapua 308W reg vs. Palma brass???

The Lapua 308W brass has been on the market for over a year now. I am in need of replacing some 308W with new brass. Anybody made the switch and see an advantage? Thanks for input, Tim

Looking for some powder suggestions, 40 SW and 223 ar's

I am using W231 for my 165 gr loads in the 40 S&W and Unique for my 180s. I have 8 lb jugs of Unique for shotgun reloading. Might be better powders but these work well for my. I primarily use Varget in my 223, but it is with 69 SMK. Highly accurate. Luck, Tim

    LCS 45x

Not an optics guru by any means, but I use optical components in my equipment in the lab and a play with a few telescopes. I would like think that relative brightness with sporting optics is all about the light transmission. If you only get 90% transmission in each lens, you loss brightness...

    LCS 45x

I adjusted the ocular the same as I almost have with other scopes. Point the scope into a clear blue sky and adjust to yield the sharpest image of the crosshairs. Maybe I need an update on my technique. The scope seemed to come into focus fine, but wasn't as bright as the T36 and not as clear...

    LCS 45x

Thanks for the feedback from all. I will box it up and send it back for inspection. Clarify is nothing like either of my T36s. Luck, Tim

    LCS 45x

I recently traded for a LCS x45 as an upgrade from my T36s. I took it out for the first time this weekend. I was shocked at how critical the eye-relief was compared to the T36. I am most concerned with the somewhat foggy appearance of image. Tracking was excellent. Focus worked fine. Does...

    New bullet choice?

My experience with Bergers is that most perform best when shoot from the jam. With my current barrel, this is my limitation since it is a factory throated. I haven't done a chamber cast to measure the freebore. I have been shooting my Savage rifles too much. I was actually thinking the M700...

    New bullet choice?

I am going to make an FTR match this year and bring my M700 308W with a 26" `barrel. I have done a fair amount of shooting in the 300-500 yd range with this rifle. Max range has been limited to 600 yds. I have used the 168 SMK exclusively but know it is not suited for 800-1000 yds...

2012 Denton Tx NBRSA Match Schedule

:( I hate to hear that. I was hoping to shoot a couple of club matches. My old Savage doesn't make weight even for HV. I doubt my scores with be in the area where I would be protested.. :o. I will try to make a couple of shoots. Many thanks to the guys (James and John) that ran the club...

    Sinclair benchrest forend extender

I have purchased mine install in the stock from the stock maker. I am sure you can purchase one from McMillian (http://www.mcmfamily.com/mcmillan-stocks-options.php) or Sharp Shooter Supply (http://www.sharpshootersupply.com/). I would bet they are available from Brownells but I can't find...
