Wind Tunnel

For a new benchrest shooter as myself, my recent visit to Gene Beggs’ Wind Tunnel in Odessa Texas last week was beneficial in my efforts to improve my knowledge and skills in benchrest shooting. Shooting in the tunnel to fine tune load and determine rifle accuracy was less of a stress. Gene is also available to teach on as needed basis any area regarding benchrest shooting discipline. He taught me how to improve my knowledge of seating bullets and resize my cases in accordance with suggested specs for each caliber, wind reading, range etiquette, and load development procedures. This new experience and knowledge I have acquired from him, I believe shall enhance my shooting skills and develop confidence as I progress with this sport. Gene is a super nice guy and good teacher/mentor.

It is good that a facility such as Gene’s Wind Tunnel is available to new or even experienced shooters who can benefit from shooting at this modern Wind Tunnel facility to determine their guns accuracy in a zero wind condition.

Here are some pictures I took of his Wind Tunnel.

Gene is a super guy! A trip to his place would be a real valuable resource. If I recover soon enough from my back surgery I will go out there before the Super Shoot.

Thanks for the kind words guys. :) It's always a pleasure to have guests at the tunnel.

If you have been thinking of making a trip to Odessa, Texas to shoot in the tunnel, I hope this will be the year. Rain, shine, sleet or snow, we can shoot every day in wind-free conditions. It's airconditioned and very comfortable; come see for yourself. The welcome mat is always out. :)

Later,

Gene Beggs

And me three,

My visit with Gene was one of the highlights of my entire shooting career to date and well worth the drive to get there. I am only sorry that his facility isn't closer. It certainly is a most unique and beneficial place to spend a day or two. One is likely to find out for sure, a number of things.

Beyond that, gene knows all the places to get good vittles :)

What's up?????

Hey Robert; the expression on your face in the picture makes me think Gene found 15 things wrong with your rifle!;)

Hi Virg:

More or less like 15 something wrong about my face in a cold weather West Texas. In the tunnel my LV6PPC and HV30br were capable to shoot zero, of course in an ideal wind condition in a tunnel. We will see how they do on the actual competition when I rejoin the competition at the Austin Rifle Club. I will be happy if they continue to shoot consistently as they have been before in 250s with some high ten xs or better.
