welll......
http://www.snopes.com/autos/business/carburetor.asp
I've known two men who messed with burning vapor, one of them back in Mn had an apparatus using his wife's cake pans and a heater from the exhaust which fed into the carburetor on his lawnmower, he claimed he could "mow his lawn all year on a tank of gas." His shop burnt to the ground within a year. Another claimed an "ultrasonic vortex" system of vibrating heated rods swirling into his intake. His blew up.
Whether or not the method actually works is still up for grabs in my mind but the safety issues seem very real to me!
Now regarding the hybrids like Prius and others....... I still have serious trouble with the numbers. Prius' are thick as bugs on the ground out here, I followed three of them just today, but it just doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling to know that they're driving around on my tax dollars. One part of me is tempted to jump on the govt subsidy bandwagon but the other part realizes that robbing Peter to pay Paul is short-sighted and false economy. IMO a product must stand or fall on its own merits not as the result of a subsidy.
As I've stated before, I'll wait until the product rises to the market before I buy. As an example of this I just had a serendipitous experience which illustrates my point..........I say 'serendipitous' because I just used the reference to "build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door."
Long mousetrap story......
A while back I found a mousetrap on the job in a subdivision. It was empty, but my guess is that the lady next door caught a mouse and just threw the whole thing, trap and all, onto the next door lot where I picked it up.
The trap was called "A Better Mousetrap" and it's a beauty.
http://www.intruderinc.com/mousetrap/mousetrap.html I went out today to buy one. It's SOOOO simple and the directions are on the bottom..."set next to the wall and press to set." NO MORE baiting with icky-sticky and NO MORE blood blistered thumbs and no more bloody mouse carcases. Your wife can set this thing with no fear and it WORKS. The one I found is actually an earlier version with no serrated 'teeth' and it says "A Better Mousetrap" on top.
So I went to buy some, it's going into winter here and the mouses are slipping in through open garage doors and such. Instead, I found this little guy
http://www.motomco.com/h_mechtraps.htm and also a Victor version of the same design....

Now, in my mind the FIRST guy (whom I think is the "Better Mousetrap" guy) truly DID have an innovative idea! My guess is that Victor and Tomcat pay royalties to the Better Mousetrap guy. I'll order some "Better Mousetrap" ones from an online supplier.
I just wish't I'D a thought of it!
To sell multiple units of something to every hardware store in America.........Ahhhhh the American Dream.
I lie awake nights thinking of my invention....... I have a bunch of relatives who've made their living's this way, I've got backers AND producers that I know just looking for ideas/products. I'm still waiting for an idea, MY idea.
