Varmint Match Action

What action to use with the 40x single shot foot print.this will be used out
to 500 yds.Thanks for any help.....

40x type action

Take a look at the actions on Jim Borden's web site. He makes an excellent replacement for the 40x /700 type actions and they drop right into existing 40x/700 stocks.
Also, he has options like pined recoil lugs.

Kelbly also now has a Remington footprint action.

Haven't personally seen it, but the new Shilen action has the 700 footprint, accepts a Jewel trigger, and uses the Savage barrel nut design so you can install you own pre-fit barrels. That sounds like it might fit you purpose well.

If you're concerned about field performance you could also look at www.surgeonrifles.com. They also have a model with tighter tolerances for f-class and benchrest disciplines.

Another two thumbs for the Stiller Predator route, a great action at a great price from a great company. I got one of the early pred's and should have my second in hand next week.

I just had a 6BR built on a Stiller Predator action with a Bill Shehane Tracker stock. Shot it for the 1st time a few weeks ago, sure seems like a nice action. Glad I went with a Stiller(I replaced a Remington 700 action out of that stock).
