U.S. Military Crusader Scopes?

Born,Bornded, Borne !

Do these guys mean "borne" as in, it's airborne, it blew in with the wind and landed on them or what? Or do they mean that it was "born" from an idea or like in, these pups were born in April?
Now as far as the "Bertrillium-Zantitium" thing I think that if you break it down, it means, Bertrillium-Bert Parks hosted the Miss America pageant a trillium times. As for the Zantitium, I think it is a mixture of Zantac, which is a drug for ulcers(which you may need after buying this scope) & Titium which is the milk or oil that you get from ah... well I think you get the picture. :)
Anyway I think the info is accurate but please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. :D

Best,

Dan Batko

Where are we going and why am I in this basket?"

I've watched a number

of Sniper Competition shows on the Dish and the predominance of scopes I see are those that have a squarish body with lots of lights and what look like dials, etc on them. I believe them to be some sort of range finding device but don't know. I do see other scopes as well. I would add from what I have seem in the Benchrest Circle I travel in, if I wanted to depend on hitting a target every time. I wouldn't be mounting a Night Force scope on my rifle.

Wow Pete, NightForce is really on your bad side aren't they! What seems to be the problem with them?

I currently have 5 NightForces (two Benchrest and three NXS's) and I shoot them in both Benchrest and Tactical Matches. I abuse them, constantly moving the dials and banging them around and they return to zero as well as any S&B or USO I have ever owned. As an example, I did a test of my zeros this past Sunday to get ready for a match (two shots at 300,385,440 & 500 yards) with two rifles (my 300 mag and 308) and at the end of my 16 shots I didn't have a shot more than .5 moa from the center aimpoint. I do this a lot from 100 to 1000 yards and the NightForce has never let me down. I am certainly not trying to argue with you but since I have great luck/experiences with all of mine I just am curious as to why they have a bad mark in your book?

I think ya'l have convinced my to look at something a little better. I've been contemplating getting a 5-25x 56mm scope sold by Liberty Optics.

It is one of The Premier Heritage tactical scopes.

Take a look: http://www.libertyoptics.com/index1.html

does this one look like a good one?

gt40

WOW you are jumping from a $500 scope to a $2500 scope??? Good for you! At this price range I have to ask...what will you use it for?

I could give you a list

of Benchrest shooters who have sent them back several times for such things as lenses not being bedded properly, etc. I can also give you a smaller list of those who have switched to other brands because they are unreliable. I have never owned one personally. I went for the Real Thing. I just call em like I see em.

Me too Pete...I guess we just see different things. ;)

So what is the "real thing" in your opinion?

My Nightforce was the best scope that I have ever owned as far as dependability and the other obvious reasons. Too much trouble to make weight on the 10.5 rifle. Hopefully I'll have a March next year.
Butch

i'd sure as heck like to see a list of these nightforce scope problems, but only if you can back it up with some sort of documentation (warranty work reciepts or something similiar).
