Tucker Conversion

I have a Leupold 36BR that has been boosted to 45X by Wally, and also had the Tucker conversion done by Cecil. I'm guessing that was probably around 2003.

I believe Cecil said one time, that it should be redone about every five years. I believe that time came for me today at a local event. :)

My question is, should the scope be returned to Cecil for the work, or can the replacement work be done by me. I know as of early last year, Cecil was still working, however I don't know for sure if he still is. I do have a new phone number for him, and I'll give him a ring sometime this week, but thought I'd ask here to see what others have done in the past.

Thanks, and Happy Easter.

Send it to Cecil. His phone numbers and address have not changed.

Probably the only thing that could deterioate in a Tucker Conversion is the small o-ring that he installs in the eye piece end of the erector tube. Over a period of time, it could become set in it's ways and not perform the function that it is placed there to do, that being to stabilize the erector tube in the radial plain.

While Cecil has it apart, I am sure he will check for any loose lenses, or any other maladys that might be found.

I am not sure just how Leupold addresses scopes that have been subjected to modifications. Over the years, their policy has changed from time to time..............jackie

They were still NOT even looking at any scope that had been modified. "Warranty is null and void" is their response.

My story

About 2 years ago I sent my 45x-45 out to Leupold. They noticed I had a Neilson conversion. They made me an offer I could not refuse.
I bought the new tube they offered with the lifetime warranty attached. :)
