We finished up our Tomball Gun Club Match schedule today, and the range responded with some BRUTAL conditions, 15 to 20 mph winds that typical of Tomball, no two flags pointing in the same direction at any given time.
We had 30 shooters come out today, 21 being in the Benchrest Class, which is, more or less, Varmint for Score.
An idea as to how tough it was, of the 21 shooters in Varmint for Score, only 7 stayed clean. Vic Smith came out on top, with, for the conditions, an excellent 250 18X. The results are as follows.
Factory Class:
Pauk Dermody.........236 6x
Rachel Hamilton......223 1x
Rapheal Wilson.......190
Modified Class:
Joe R Duke.............248 6x
Russel Mathews.....247 9x
Bill Strange.............244 12x......Shooting a 8mm WSM!!!!
Benchrest Class:
Vic Smith................250 18x
Gary Walters..........250 17x 10 wo
Joe Duke Sr...........250 17x 9 wo
Carl Easton............250 17x 8 wo
As you can see, the 2d and 3d place was determined by tie breaker, and we used the new NBRSA tie breaker of the shooter with the most Wipe Outs getting the prize. It worked quite well, just took me a couple of extra minutes to determine the wipe outs and add them up.
We also handed out the honors forthe Shooters of the Year in the three classes. The Factory Class Shooter of the Year is Paul Dermody. The Modified Class Shooter of the Year is Faron Fredrick, and the Benchrest Shooter of the Year honors went to Nick Marino, who topped Catalin Loghin by a single "X" after the entire five Matches.
Thanks for all of the Competitors who supported our Matches this year, and we look forward to having another successful season next year..........jackie schmidt, Tomball Gun Club Club Match Director.
