The Very First Airgun Benchrest Match

At Capitol City R&P Club in Augusta, Me will be held on June 23, 2012. Sign-up starts @ 9:00 and we will shoot our first target @ 10:00. We will shoot a three target aggregate for each class in the AM and if there is interest, we will hold a second match after a lunch break. Hope to be swamped with competitors. We will shoot the World Rules.

Paul Bendix has graciously offered two loaner rifles for folks who would like to try the Sport. Let me know. I have an extra rifle as well so we can accomodate three who don't have guns, at this point.

The traget frame sockets were installed yesterday @ 25 meters so we are ready to Rip. Should be a very nice place to shoot Airgun Benchrest.

Good luck with the match Pete! If my daughter wasn't graduating from high school on the 23rd, I'd be there.

I plan on being there. Dance Recital on the 23 for my Grand daughter but will see her dress rehearsal fri night.
Will get to my camp by 2:00 AM. Will bring two loaners and two tanks of air.

Is RF benchrest on Sunday?

Don't know how many we will have but we have to start somewhere, eh? Yes, there is a RF match that has been scheduled for 6-24.

Hi Dan. Take I-95 North to the Civic Center Drive Exit in Augusta, Me. I believe it will be the second Augusta exit going North. Turn left (North)and drive about 4 miles. You will see a smallish cemetery close to the road on your right. Slow Down! The drive into the club is just past the cemetery. The range the match will be held on is straight in and to the left of the Clubhouse. This is a small venue so everything will be evident when you get there.

Capitol City Gun Club is I95 North to Exit 112 (RT 27 towards Belgrade) Club road is at the end of the cemetery
fence. Dirt road with sign for the club on Rt 27. Might be 5 miles from Exit 112.

This old mans memory is pretty bad..... but I think that you came down to the air gun forum based on a post I made in the General section. I am working on another post to put there, showing how savings per shot with extreme accuracy can pay for a high dollar air gun very quickly.

Keep on recruitN' to build the sport.

I haven't decided yet for sure, but it's leaning toward my not being there. With the 175+ miles of driving - each way (3+ hours) - combined with the fact that we have plans that evening, I doubt very much you'll be seeing me. Sorry!

OK Dave,

Sorry we won't see you but I understand that some folks have a "Life" outside the Benchrest Sports :). I just don't happen to be one of them this year.

Car packed had to down size only two airguns along with 2 rimfire and two rests. Thunder storms so bed of truck is empty.

Only two of us showed up to shoot today. Conditions were about the usual for Augusta. Doesn't bode well for the future, only having two shooters show up for a match though, does it? I'll offer another to see if things improve.

Paul will put the results up soon.

Don't give up yet Pete! I'd have been there but my daughter graduated today. Any chance you can schedule a match between 7/20-28? I'll be in Maine on vacation and would welcome a chance to get away from the beach for some shooting!!!
