Drummers throne, google it or ebay. The cheap ones are OK, the higher ones are better I suppose. I have no trouble with the cheap one. It was given to me, thats really cheap.
Keep in mind that the higher priced stools are usually heavier and more bulky than the cheaper ones (also usually more durable, but I have yet to wear out my cheap one, and I am no light weight ). I have a VERY NICE ROC-N-SOC drum throne with hydraulic height adjustment, but find myself using a much cheaper Cobalt River drum throne because it is so much easier to carry and store in my range box.
If you decide to go with a cheaper drum throne be sure to check the height adjusting mechanism. The quicker and more secure height adjustment will have a threaded post that the seat attaches to which screws into the base portion of the column rather than the friction type or through bolt type columns.
I will add the sinclair stool is hard to carry and pricey, but if you use one you will never go back to any other . The constantly adjustability and ease of changing height is a big plus. Hard to beat if you shoot at multiple ranges.
I am using a drummers stool I got from Grizzly. Heavy duty, well contoured seat, adequate padding, threaded heigth adjusting stem, rubber feet, base folds up.
I purchased a used adjustable office chair for $25. I took the arms and back off by removing a few screws and created a nice portable seat / stool. A little ingenuity will save you some bucks. Art
I have had lots of comments about my shooting stool. Most are probably laughing but I don't really care. It's big and comfy and I like it. It looks like a Harley Davidson motorcycle seat with a little "bling" for good measure. Has a hydraulic adjustment that I love. It came from Harbor Freight on sale for $69.
It does take up more space than I'd like but otherwise I love it.---Mike Ezell
I found the adjusting knobs not easy to use and , at some ranges, the seat had to be lowered to where the adjusting knobs clunked into each other. I went to socket head screws but that becomes a pain, especially if one shoots in a full rotation match. The infinately adjustable gas cylinder solved all my problems.
I take my Sinclair stool apart by simply using a hammer to knock the legs and seat off. The seat is a bit resistent but it comes off.
