Another difference in these two setups, is that Marks spider, is an odject being held inside a chuck and a steady rest, Petes Spider is a chuck and the barrel is the only object being held by (jaws) or 8 screws with Brass tips. I don't know how much that matters, but while we're splitting frogs hairs? After seeing Mark's setup, I have to imagine that is has some vibration dampening affect to it though.
