Here is how I do it.
I find a combination that I know works. For instance, I know that a Krieger .237 4-groove barrel with a Bruno 00 Boat Tail, jammed tight, and pushed by a big dose of 133, will shoot.
I tune the barrel in with that load, (a little one way or the other) then play with the tuner to see if I can get it to shoot as best as it will.
During a match, if I see the tune going away, I will toss some quick 3 shot groups on th sighter, and adjust the tune to get the verticle out. If I can, I will get to the record and live with what I have got.
For years, I shot a specific lot of 133 that worked well with this procedure. The '07 I started the year with did not work that well. Not real bad, just not as good as what I am used to.
So, in short, get the Rifle shooting as well asyou can without the tuner, then install the tuner, and fine tune it from there. That is, if you are not familiar with the specific combination you are using.
I usually just install the tuner from minute one, because I know the combination I shoot will work. I shoot the same bullet-barrel-powder-jam all of ther time. I just tune it in with the tuner.
The only time the tuner will not respond is if the bottom falls out of the humidity. Then, with 133, I do have to adjust the charge up to keep the Rifle shooting..........jackie
