Palmetto Range Pictures

Andy,

Why don’t you sit down and workout exactly what info disabled shooters need to know when they go to a new range, bench heights and shape etc and pass it onto Carl and try and have it put in the rulebook for future internationals.

palmetto range

does the range still face east? If so it makes for interesting early shooting. there was talk of relocating to someplace a few miles south where it would face north as it should

I don't know about Palmento, but my old club shot the east, and it is challenging to say the least. We had to staple up big pieces of cardboard to the roof header so it hung down low enough to shade your scope. Thanks, Douglas

Yes, it still faces East. The winter sun is much worse than the declination angle experienced in July. Road from Highway 61 is now paved so travel is better and not as muddy/dusty. The mirage and wind can be quite a challenge. The range is located on the sea-breeze front so major direction changes occur when the land mass heats enough to generate the onshore flow from the cooler (somewhat) ocean.

Wind, Ocean Breeze, Heat Mirage, sounds like my home Range at Woollahra in Sydney let's hope so.
