NY's New Gun Bill's Effect on BR Rimfire Shooters

Any state lead by democrats is going to be in the Obama zone....they have picked the perfect storm and they expect you to buy the umbrella!! My county sheriff, which is a republican says he doesn't care what happens he will not enforce any changes in gun or ammo policies, but if the manufacturers are threatened by the feds we will have to march for our rights...will ALL gun owners make a stand?? I never thought gun owners in northern states would believe his lies, but it appears a lot of them did. If we don't stop this now it might be our last hope for freedom...not just for ourselves, but for our children and grandchildren!!

The way the bill reads, NYS will set up a data base and register dealers for ammo sales. NY will run their own checks for ammo sales, dealers have to submit sales info to the surperintendent of state police and keep those records for a year. Care to guess how long the state will keep those records? This will also allow for reds flags to go up for all you high volume buyers. Who can possibly use 5,000 rounds of ammo at a time? Any sales have to be conducted face to face. Ammo shipped to NY will have to be shipped to a regiseterd ammo dealer, you have to pick up at the dealer and submit to the NYS backround check.

Semi auto firearms with a detachable magazine and one miltiary feature (pistol grip, bayonet stud, flash supressor, muzzle break, collapsible stock) must be registered or sold out of state within a year. Don't forget to get rid of your 20-30 mags as they are also illegal to own after a year from now. Ten round magazines are grandfathered in, it's just illegal to load over 7 rounds in them. That includes the 10-22.
Cops, as it stands, are not exempt from this law.

This is what happens when our polititions (some with presidentail aspirations) work under the cover of darkness in the midlle of the night. NY is broke, where is the money coming from to fund all these registries? I hope Texas is as big as they say, there may be an influx of imagrants from the opposite direction soon!

Ken,

Texas is a great place to re-locate to. If I can find a place there that is Tornado Proof, I'm all over it :).

I think that we are all in the same boat, whether we live in Maine, NY, or Texas. I feel that if one of us looses our 2nd Amend. rights, or has them abridged, in a sense we all loose or rights. If a freedom or a right is taken from my brother next to me, am I free? I don't really think so. He's just the one the authorities have grabbed. Just as easily, It could be me next! I am not a big "joiner", always thought of myself as just an individual, and I know lots of other guys that seem to be the same, many that I've met the last 3 years in IBS. But at this point in time, I not only want my individual voice heard, I also want it heard in unison with my fellow shooters and gun owners. Making a noise and a statement that politicians and non-gun owners will hear and understand. We really need to come together, through our clubs, as citizens of individual States, and as members of National orgs like IBS and NBRSA. Most of us, or at least a good part of us, served this country, and took an oath. We are not in uniform anymore, but we have to, at the very least, raise our voices in an effort to protect the Constitution. If we don't, we really are screwed, and we will have screwed ourselves.

cbrock is right, we all need to make our voices heard. While I don't agree with everything the NRA says or does, they are the most effective organization out there to protect out rights. Everyone should join, I just upgraded my life membership. Don't give me the junk mail excuse for not joining, if you don't like it don't read it. I also don't want to hear that you have no intrest in "assault" rifles. It's a small step from there to the "sniper" rifles everyone here owns. I am not a doomsday prepper but, I find the government and polititans less and less trustworthy.

I'm hearing a lot of talk about non-compliance. I don't think it's just talk. If there is a % of high non-compliance on registration in the next year (and I think there will be) what will the State do? I'll tell you what I think - they'll extend the deadline rather than take action. NY doesn't have the resources to come after us. The police agencies don't have the resources and many won't have the will to enforce. There are a lot of rank and file police officers that are not happy about this law either. If one has a semi-auto with one of the scary cosmetic features that they don't like (like a thumbhole stocK) - keep it under wraps, don't let on you have one and see what NY is gonna do? They're not going to get warrants to search every house in NY. I believe with a high non-comliance rate, eventually the law will be declared a failure, & overturned by the next legislature & governor. What would Barney Fife say, "We got to nip-it, nip-it in the bud." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqEIt-rQqbM

I believe the New York Governor is fearful of what's coming down the road. If and when the collapes takes place where do you think the "Have Nots" will come for their supplies...to your front door step!! We've been supporting them for years and they will continue to expect it. We have generations of these people, which have never worked a day in their life and all they know is the check is on its way. Do you really believe any of them have a days worth of supplies stored-up? Why? We make sure they are taken care of!! The population that lives around large metropolitan areas will be hit the worse. I think this whole thing is Obama's plan, because otherwise how could these politicians be so stupid. This 250 page gun bill popped-up overnight.....yea, because it was in a drawer waiting for the perfect storm!! Your guns will be your only defense against the Zombies.

Its not just the Gov it also being lead by Bloomberg. He has personally closed 2 legitimate gun stores in VA simply because they can't compete with his deep pockets and fight the law suite which he dropped once the store closed.
