Locked up scopes and bases??

Howdy,
Does anyone know if Gene Bukys is having the 36x scopes glued up now? Also, has Bob Brackney developed his 1" external adj. rings yet?

I told Gene that I did not want to lock any more scopes, and gave him the name of a retired machinist who was interested.........jackie
 
I bought a Buky's mount second hand for a very reasonalble amount. Not realizing they were only made for 30mm scopes. All mine are 1" tubes. No problem. Get two 1/8x1 inch "O" rings. They will stretch enough to go over the occular lens and center bulge where the E&W knobs were. Position the "O" rings where the scope rings are and just tighten the tops down. There is enough compression of the "O" rings that you cannot move the 1" scope. I thought I was up the creek without a paddle until I thought of this. It works just fine. By the way when moving poi from 100 to 200 on the Buky's mount, approx how much do you have to turn the elevation wheel to get on target.

Not surprised to see you opt out on this. When you are doing it for yourself and a few friends it is fun, but then it becomes WORK. And doesn't pay near what it's worth. I rebuilt the cross hair in one of my Weavers 4 times before I finally got it right. I think I could still make it a bit better but working with strands of Kevar that you can't see with out magnifiers is a pain in the......neck, eyes and even lower..

For a 1 inch scope in 30mm rings Brownell's sells a 30mm-1inch reducer set.

They are simply 30mm OD and 1 inch ID delring collars with a flange at one end split in half vertically, they line the inside of the 30mm rings.

I turned 59 years old yesterday. I am working more at my business now than I did when I was 49, or even 39. I just got tired of getting off work, just to go back to work.
I have showed enough shooters how I freeze scopes that anybody with a small lathe and a little ingenuity can do it.
Of course, there is always those damned reticles. I solved the problem for myself with the glass reticles. But for the public, who just couldn't seem to stand seeing a few little spots that were just impossible to get off, it was not a viable option.

If someone who is looking to make a small gizmo to sell would make mariner wheel with divided holes and a small removable rod for adjusting the Bucky's mount. Graduated holes would provide a reference, of sorts for adjustments.

Such a wheel could screw on to the existing screws and stay there. Doesn't need to be big.

I think the mount would be more appealing to more people of there was an easier, more user friendly adjustment system. I realize it isn't as big a deal for group shooters but it is for others.

Thanks Mark. But the "O" rings work just fine. There is enough compression of the rings that you literally cannot move the scope. Kind of like the front ring on Jackie's Jewell system. Last year I froze and old Tasco 36 just for the fun of it. Then made my own adjustable mounts by using some steel 30mm rings, that had windage adjustment in the base. I used two O rings in the front and drilled the rear mount and used brass screws for the elevation. The windage was adjusted with the adjustable mount. Kind of crude looking but it was just for fun anyway. And it did hold POI. Was just too much trouble to adjust.
