Kudos To Krieger

A little while back, I started prepping a new 1.450 Krieger Unlimited Blank, and ran into a real problem. After cutting it to 23 inches, (all off of the muzzle end), the OD ran out quite a bit with the ID. Let's just say .012+.

I contacted Krieger, they agreed that the barrel was way out of tolerance. I sent the barrel and the drop back, and today a new blank was delivered, in right at 3 weeks..

As in any manufacturing proccess, there are times when a part gets past Quality Controle. The real proof of the Company's integrety is what happens if a sub standard part DOES happen to get into the hands of a customer. In this case, Krieger came through with flying colors.

Everybody knows I use Kriegers. I have for going on nine years. I have no idea how many I have chambered, for myself, and a few friends. This is only the second time I had to send a blank back for something that I had no doubt about as being amiss.

Krieger not only makes an excellent barrel for Benchrest Competition, they are also an excellent company in making sure that customers recieve the very best they have to offer.........jackie

If only

If only it didn't take so long. Been waiting for my Krieger 20 cal varmint tube thinking it would-should be here by Thanksgiving day. I guess my wife thinks of it as a Christmas present!

a 20 cal will ALWAYS take a LONG time, no matter who the maker.

It is NOT a big seller.

And Kudo's to YOU Jackie !!

Most people just B**** if something isn't perfect. YOU gave them a chance to rectify the problem and they did.

One of my best shooters

is a Kreiger. I made the mistake of looking at the bore with my new Hawkeye last year and was shaken! The bore of that barrel looks like a Moonscape. It shoot and shoots so well I didn't / won't complain about it but it would scare anyone to look at it. Inclusions in the steel that worked their way out I am sure; nothing to do with workmanship.

I bet Kreiger would like to know about your barrel! A barrel like you describe means a bad "entire heat", that's a lot of barrels. Long story short, their steel supplier screwed the pooch. I know they would want to know about "that".

It's a bit late

That barrel is 4 years old now.

I have no doubt that Shilen, Bartlein, Lilja, Broughton, and the other reputable firms will take care of you also. Glad they took care of it for you.

Kreiger

My Kreiger barrel had zero runout to the millionth of an inch. The first 3 shot group out of it measured .218 without any load development.
I had a look at the bore through a borescope and it looked like a mirror with nice sharp lands.
I've ordered a Kreiger replacement barrel for my 257 Wby and hope it looks as good.
