Hope you have a good turnout. Looks like some state and regional matches this weekend too. Might need some controls on scheduling. Too few shooters to divide into this many slices on same weekend.

yep you're right don. it's bills show now maybe he can
establish some guidelines on the scheduling. anyway it
looks to be a nice weekend in the low 80's.

FWIW I don't think anyone should be allowed to host a match during a "Nationals" weekend. I built the schedule for "my" club way back last winter and guess what....I have to be at "my club" for an IR50 UL match on Sunday. We are only 5 hours apart but I'll miss the Fairchance UL nationals this weekend. Nationals weekends need to be blocked out before other clubs schedule their season. Hope attendance is good. bob

sorry to hear that bob i was hopin' you'd show up. hope you do well.

Bob,
That's all fine and dandy, but I sent my schedule in back in the Winter time too? It wasn't a spur of the moment thing to schedule the NC State meters on the 3rd Saturday of June. We have always had the NC State on the third Sat. in June. I don't mind them scheduling a UL match in PA on the same day of my 3 gun match, at all.

Kent: I'm glad it works for you. Dons point, and I agree with it is we have a limited number of shooters and each of us can only be in one place at a time. You understand that. I'd be curious to know how many of your shooters this weekend would have traveled to Fairchance if you were not hosting yours? Its a long haul from NC so probably very few if any. In my case, its only one; me. I'm not gonna miss the two nights in the lovely motel just up the road from Fairchance tho. I'll sleep in my own bed this weekend and that a good thing. Hope your NC state goes well. bob

Bob,
I shouldn't have posted on the thread at all, but I did. I guess what I was trying to convey is that I certainly didn't schedule on top of a Nationals "knowingly". With trying to schedule with the clubs in the immediate area, and 3-4 orgs competing for the same shooters it's practically impossible to not schedule on top of someones match. As a long time match director, and the only rimfire Br shooter in the club(meaning NO help) it's a frustrating job to say the least. This might be my last year of it.
Shucks, I might have went to Fairchance myself if I didn't have the match scheduled!

would have liked to have had both of you, i figure all of the matchs will lose
some of the possible attendance because of the scheduling. i'm sure there are
some people midways in virginia who will go to nc or pa or md who might have done
otherwise. i understand the whole thing ended up in fairchance because they
couldn't get leetown to put it on. bill h. was hoping to do that since that was
the birthplace of ir, and it would have seemed fitting, oh well, hope everyone
this weekend has a good turnout and shoots well.

Kent: I'm pleased you did post. Its always good to soak in other points of view. Its never going to be perfect, and we all have our biases. Hope your match goes well this weekend. I'll get down there one of these days when I can fit it into my schedule. bob

IR5050 had a few severe twists and turns at the end of last season. Several match directors have worked hard and committed their time and resources to make sure it carried on as it always did. Some new ranges have come on board due to the shooters being comitted to make it continue on.
Rachel and Bill Hinegardener have been fine people to work with, as was Wilbur Harris, and even though it'll will have glitches here and there. I think it will be a better than ever, in the long run.

Bob, it's always good when the shooters post their points of view as well. If nobody says anything, well we don't know what they think:) You're welcome at Blue Ridge anytime. Load up and come on down this weekend.
We are going to have a great match. Weather is supposed to be warm, and the wind light.

Kent: IR50 is indeed in good hands for the future with Bill at the helm. It always takes a bit of time to iron things out with a change at the top. And Bill is very resistant to change for change sake. We match directors have to do our part too....and since I'm running an IR50 UL match this weekend I must decline your gracious invitation for this weekend. Another time, I promise. bob

well i stopped by about noon about 10 guys there practicing, and clint selling ammo.
bill h. had just shot a 250 19x i think it was, practicing, wind wasn't bad. more people were pulling in when i left.

from what i've heard they have 24 people shooting today. pretty nice weather
we had a storm roll through about 5 in the morning, another is on it's way,
right now it's very calm about 75 out. i'll stop by there in a little while and try to
get some scores to post later.

I hear that competitor are being allowed to carry there guns around with the bolt's still in the action??
I thought I read that the owner of IR 50/50 (Bill Hinegardner)was competing there, was he one of the offenders?
Maybe this is one of the phantom rule changes??!!
Pete

i don't know pete i stopped by as the match was winding down to pick up the scores.
we never allowed rifles in the firing area to have their bolts in, so i don't know except
last year the target crew wouldn't budge until all the guns were off the benchs. with or
without the bolt.

I surely hope NOT! The one Safety item that seperates us from the rest of the World is the Bolts Out Rule.

Like to thank everyone who attended the ul nationals at Fairchance this weekend. I think everyone enjoyed themselves and we had a very good shoot. The rest of the results will be posted on the ir 5050 web site. We hope everyone can make the 3 Gun Nationals in September. More info will be posted soon.
Thanks

Pete,
Did you see people carrying rifles around with bolts in them? If you did, did you tell them to remove them, or tell the referrees to ask them to make them safe?
If not, and it's heresay, it's very unfair to that MD and the folks who worked hard to put on that match to post such safety infractions on a website that dozens of folks will read, and think it IS a fact.
