H322

I see that no one used it this year in the top 20 either class
at the Super Shoot. Just wondering why. It measures as well
as any powder we have ???

Perhaps it's because most folks can get a decent group out of it but have a hard time agging with it.

Well BOB
The answer would probably be that non of the top shooters thought that it produced the aggs required to win.
I think that if metering were the judge of how good a powder is then we would all be shooting ball powder.
I will disagree that it measures as well as any powder we have. My measure meters H335 as good or better than anything else out there but it doesn't shoot as well as other powders.

From my experience with H-322

The older lots seemed to act like N-130 or H-4198. The more recent stuff seems to act more like N-133 or N-140. I remember shooting the newer stuff in a 30 BR and it would actuly deliver slower speeds at higher loadings. I am going to try it in my 30-45's and the 30-47 I have to see how it does in them. I suspect it will be more useful there. Don't know why the maker slowed it down but it was a mistake, in my opinion.

I'm not a great shooter, but when I was using 133 I had great problems keeping the crap in tune................AND that was compounded by gun handling problems etc. After recently switching back to 322x, the bad shots have a driver error attached to them and I don't need to worry about the load near so much. I am agging better with 322x than 133 at this point.
If I can get the gun handling, rest & bag, bench manors, flag reading etc. down DEAD NUTS, then I would feel like testing the 2 powders side by side again.
Every part of benchrest, from load to bullet to rest to bag to powder to gun handling and flag reading ability..........induces a degree of error that is cumulative. I'm shooting better with H322 Extreme than with 133 and won't even try 133 again till I think the other problems are a non issue.

it seems that I can shoot a small group with it, but never 5 groups.
they all have tails sooner or later. For 4 of the 5 shots will always be
tight, one will be way out. H4198 shoots much better and 133 shoots well
most of the time. H322 works well with light bullets , more so than with 68's
or so it seems.

I shoot the older 322

Good shooting stuff! Won a few, lost a few, some were rained out..

Have no experience with Xtreme.

322

GLP, The largest I've taken was 180 lbs. The problem is where I hunt, it is extremely dense and it seems everytime I shoot one they run to the bottom of the hill and have to be drug back to the top. Usally takes 2-3 hrs of hard work to get them out. I've been loking for a cartidge that in not a magnum since shooting is 30 yrds. that will anchor them . The deer I got this past yr dropped like a rock, went through the shoulder bone went into the chest and broke the leg leaving. Dropped like a rock.

Hal, Sid will have the 358 barrel ready for me for the Bud, Euber has made the bullets and will be there with it. Don't think I'll need a tuner with this one but may need a muzzle break though. :D
Watch out. Curtis

Run to the bottom

Park at the bottom of the hill or hunt somewhere else. Never hunt downhill!

That is akin to the guy that lost his keys somewhere in the street but is only looking under the street light because it's easier to see there.

at any rate, if you hunt up hill, the 322 will be in the back of the case.
next to the primer. You can always fill the front half with B.S. as
always and at least it will go bang

Exactly

It's all about the quality of the experience. If you want to hunt downhill for gosh sakes don't take bullets. Catch 'em in the scope and say to yourself.."I have you now my pretty.." and then snap your rifle on empty. Move on to the next one. You can hunt all day and not fatigue yourself by dragging a limp animal uphill. The stories you could tell are endless....

On the way home, buy yourself a cheeseburger and play like it's venison jerky. Rip it one handed and drink soda without a straw...
