What a beauty of a day! The only snow we saw happened early on, but the wind and temperature ended up being pretty much as predicted. There was a good cloud cover which lasted until half way through the second target, then the sun came out full force.

We had 7 shooters the same as last month with 5 of us shooting the LV Class, and then one each in HV and Open Classes. Notice how the only shooters to achieve a 700 or better Agg were the 5 LV shooters.

LV CLASS
TARGET #1

1.) TODD BANKS 246-10x
2.) Paul Bendix 238-8x
3.) Dan Brown 231-6x

4.) Dave Shattuck 230-3x
5.) Rick Ingraham 224-3x

TARGET #2
1.) TODD BANKS 244-9x
2.) Dave Shattuck 241-6x
3.) Dan Brown 239-9x

4.) Rick Ingraham 237-5x
5.) Paul Bendix 228-2x

TARGET #3
1.) RICK INGRAHAM 244-7x
2.) Todd Banks 241-5x
3.) Paul Bendix 236-4x

4.) Dave Shattuck 234-6x
5.) Dan Brown 234-4x

HV CLASS
DANIEL FINNEY 227-1x, 233-3x, 230-4x

OPEN CLASS
FRANKY MONROE 212-2x, 231-5x, 222-1x

Aggregates for the day are:
LV CLASS
1.) TODD BANKS 731-24x
okay, now we'll get more realistic
2.) Rick Ingraham 705-15x
3.) Dan Brown 704-19x

4.) Dave Shattuck 704-15x
5. Paul Bendix 702-14x

HV CLASS
DANIEL FINNEY 690-8x

OPEN CLASS
FRANKY MONROE 665-8x

So, if you throw Todd's massive score out, positions 2 - 5 were separated by a measly 3 points, which given the conditions, and considering we were shooting in the under 12fpe Class, wasn't bad at all. Good fun and I hope you can all make the April shoot on the 21st.

See you then,

Dave

David,
Thanks for running the match at Pinnacle Mountain. Was a little concerned when the sign said. Road Closed! Pass at your own risk, Mud season! Not sure how Franky and Dan made it through??

I think I know how Todd beat us all. It's that G.D. Turtle gun Frank sold him.Great shooting Todd!!!!

Dave,
I always enjoy shooting at Pinnacle Mtn. I hope you'll be able to schedule more matches there this year! I have my reasons for wanting to continue shooting there;) Paul, I've got our club VP working on target stands for Salem, modeled after the one you left for us last time. I requested at least 8 for the 3/25 match and we already have 5, so hopefully you won't have to haul any with you for that match. Hope to see everyone at Salem in two weeks!
Todd

Dave, And Gang sorry I missed another great shoot. Todd great shooting (AGAIN) hope to see everyone again at the next Holbrook shoot ( If there is another indoor shoot in April?)

Mark

when is the next shoot and where?benchrest sounds like fun.what are the rules?

Hi Where are you located ? We shoot in Salem NY a weak from Sunday . Rick

Franky,
I don't know if those are shoots at Capitol City? Or even if they're Benchrest shoots as there is a group up there who shoot 10 Meter Airgun. Pete will have to straighten that out.

Holbrook will be having a 25Y Indoor match on April 7, Holbrook is south of Boston, and then they'll be another Outdoor 25M match at Pinnacle Mtn. on the 21st in South-Central NH. -- Dave

I have scheduled 3 Airgun Benchrest Matches this Summer @ Capitol City. They will be run by the World Rules. They are: 6-23-12, 7-14-12 and a third to be determined at an up-coming meeting of the Club. I will start these matches later than most matches are usually started to give folks who want to travel extra time to get there. I will announce that time at a later date.

never shot bench rest.what do i need? i have a marauder .22 with a 4-16x56 scope.

That's not a bad start!

One of our guys, Daniel Finney, shoots a Marauder in both Benchrest and FT and is one of our strongest competitors, not to mention that he won the 2012 FT National Championship using it. He's done some work on it shaking out the bugs, but none the less it's a good platform to start with, especially where you already own it.

You may find your weakest link is the Scope. It's a little weak power wise, but that won't matter for awhile as it's good enough to get you going.

Here is a picture of a UK World target.
The middle 25 bulls are for score one shot each bull. The sighters on the left and right you can shoot as many as you need.
Send me your mailing address via email and I will mail you some targets you can make copies from.

Gees Paul, you trying to scare him away, or just showing off? 250-20X's? Just don't tell him you shot it Outdoors under very switchy conditions with a 10 to 15 MPH cross-winds ... and at 50 Meters ... while playing around with your 12fpe gun!

N1YPD, That's not one of your more typical targets. In fact, that one would probably qualify for World Record status.

You can also view and/or download a copy of the target for both 25 and 50M/Y at usairriflebenchrest.com and wrabf.com.
