Friends?

Bill Wynne

Active member
I have just discovered that there is a place in our profile for friends. I don't know how long that has been there but mine said "Bill Wynne has not made any friends". Everyone knows that it takes at least 6 for a proper funeral.:)

I don't know about the rest of you, but I need all the friends that I can get so I have started putting some of your names is as my "friends". I hope you don't mind.

I realize that most of us have not met yet but we are friends. I have put some of you down on my list who I almost never agree with and some who I almost always agree with. I haven't included any who are too grumpy, but give me time.

Gee I'm lucky! I can name quite a few members that would be ever so happy to put me in my casket! Preferably this afternoon! :D

I notice a lot of forums have this....

.....what does it do if you sign up as amigos??

Bill,

You live too far north......cursing at your friends is a term of endearment down this way!!

Normally, fishing and hunting are involved....but mostly around a bbq pit:)

You have part of a point Paul. We just call that razzing. I don't guess the boys up north razz each other much. We should ask Francis about that.

We may not be as far South as you but we are further south than San Diego and Savanna. Check it out on a map.

I forget how far south I am sometimes Bill.....

.....people will email me about living in south TX and ask me how I like San Antonio.

I tell them I visit there a few times a year to see my sister so our kids / the cousins can play and it'a about a 3-4 hour drive north. Takes me 5 hours to get to Houston if I REALLY step on it!!

Have to admit....we have a big time with the razzing but has to be the right setting and really good compadres. You can tell who your best friends are the more you make fun of eachother. Like I said, We really get into some belly rollers at bbq's and deer camp or on dove hunts is where I see it most.

Almost never do it front of the wives as they have no sense of humor of us making fun of eachother.

Me too

Hey guys, I like getting the friend requests. I guess I am a little outspoken, well maybe not much, but it's nice to have people who are willing to consider me a friend, despite my leanings. I'll be 62 soon, and I probably won't be changing much. Welcome to my neighborhood guys, Rusty

I agree.

You guys seem like a great bunch to party with our have a barbeque.

So, who's house are we meeting at? :D

Y'all come on over. Gotta pool with an enclosure around it(no mosquitos) and a grill. Who's bringing the meat?:D

If anyone NEEDS some meat....

.....just give me a holler starting in Nov (Oct if you like to bowhunt in hot weather) I'm usually dove hunting & in the shade w/ a cervesa in hand looking over a pond.

We normally have to shoot between 50-70 does depending on the survery on the ranch I hunt. Invite is open if you like venison.....we eat lots of it.

Have a pretty cool camp too......

Paul my friend,

What part of deep South Texas do you call home?

For you who don't know I have heard it said that if you live in Brownsville, Texas, you cannot leave at daybreak and drive out of Texas in daylight hours on the same day. Of course, that was said a few years ago when the highways were not as good.

Concho Bill

I'm in Rio Grande Valley amigo Bill....

.....about 45-50 west of Brownsville. If I left the house now, I could be eating dinner in Mexico in about 15 mins!!

South Padre is about an hour away but I have been fishing out of Port Mansfield recently. The Lower Laguna Madre is a unique place and one of only 2 or 3 ultra salinity bays in the world that actually thrives......it is saltier than the ocean. I Also do a little offshore but I'm a wuss and only go when it's super calm.

The Rio Grande Valley is a great place if you live to Hunt and fish and IF you can deal with the Heat in the summer time. My deer lease is about another 45-50 miles west of me in Starr County. We have some of the best wing shooting in the U.S.....one of my best friends is the U.S. Fed. Game warden and we spend a lot of time together at the ranch, shooting dove / whitewing and quail. If you like to bass fish, we have Falcon lake about two hours away that just set all sort of record weigh-ins from the last major bass tourney.

I love the Winter time but summers are getting tougher.....thank God for air conditioning!!

The only drawback to the area (as you stated) is we are a long way from nowhere if you travel. We are homebodies for the most part and I do all the driving out to the ranch or to the coast. Luckily, My wife enjoys staying home and being with the kids and not a vacation person. Our idea of a family get away is driving to San Antonio to stay at my sister's which is fine with me!!

Come on down if you want to shoot a doe this next season. I'm sure we'll have lots of thinning to do.
